Hello from Boston, Massachusetts. A local expression here. “Dawn broke over Marblehead.” It means when someone finally gets a joke or a concept. Marblehead, Mass which is located on the north shore of eastern Massachusetts. First place to receive daylight.

Thank you both, keep up the good work. I could add “stronger than 10 acres of garlic”. I heard it only once, but it’s been on my head since. The other I’d add is “hold your horses”. I use it’s equivalent in Brazilian Portuguese all the time: “Pode tirar seu cavalinho da chuva”.

Hi Leila, An interesting and informative lesson about Modern English Idioms. I sincerely appreciate your efforts and know many new idioms. Homework: 20. Hit the sack - to go to bed, and you'd use this to tell your friends or family that you're really tried, so you're going to sleep. "It's time for me to hit the sack, I'm so tired". Thanks and regards,

Hey, Leila! Hooray! Holy smokes, it seems we haven't seen you for donkey years. You crushed it, you're a real deal. With your mellifulous voice and winning smile learning English is much more fun. The lesson was never better. You definitely put a lot of heart and soul in it! Appreciate it so much!🙏🧡❤😍😍 We'd like to share our two idioms. (They're both about your lesson)😋🤗😉 1. Knock/hit it out of the park - to do something extremely well, excellent. 2. Tip one's cap off - used to express admiration and respect. Stay safe! Cheerio! 😊🤝
