I went to a place called Wentnor in Shropshire to meet my Sister Susan, her son Robert and Grandson Harry, I also have a moan about the 20 mph speed limit in Wales. If that is the best they can do when it comes to organising a change Heaven forbid we ever change the side of the road we drive on.

Holidays will be so lovely when you can walk around welsh towns where the traffic is calmed to 20mph.. and your children safer too. A relaxing and safe holiday

I absolutely agree but I don't agree with the "blanket" idea. I have seen for myself how frustrated drivers put their foot down hard on the accelerator as soon as the 20 limit ends. NOT A GOOD idea. Thanks for watching. Cheers and welcome to Wales. Michael

@@michaelchartres Frustrated drivers used to put their foot down before too .. what on earth are you talking about ? Drivers used to come down my 20mph street at 40-60mph .. now they travel at 25 mph .. job done, my life is much better

Nice trip Michael, and 20mph is still faster than a horse. 🤣 Don't worry, enjoy live. Cheers Andy 🤠

Great story about Swedish roads Michael. As a Motor enthusiast I was aware of this but great to hear a story straight from the horses mouth . ( not that you are a horse 😆😆). And that little town has been added to my list of to be visited. Looks really nice .👍

Thanks for your comment Richard. The change over in Sweden was very interesting to witness. If you do visit Bishops Castle a great drive is from Church Stretton and over the Long Mynd. Be sure to take in Clun whilst in the area. Cheers Michael

It's good to hear what's happening with the 20mph situation from someone who lives there. Although I'd previously heard that some 30mph zones already had 20mph zones too, but that in those places the 30 was also reduced to 20 despite the signage showing otherwise! I suppose time will clarify things! Nice video though - 50+ years ago i read a series of 'adventure' books by Malcolm Saville that were mostly set in that area of Shropshire. "Wings over Witchend" and something to do with the 'Lone Pine Club' I think? It's nice to see some of the places written about. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comment Mike. I haven't read anything of Malcolm Saville but Shropshire is a good area to use as a location. It is a great County and one I have spent a lot of time in when I lived in South Staffordshire. Regards Michael

As someone who spends a lot of time in Wales, I quite like the 20 limit. It has previously been a real pain, constantly driving through differing speed limits, jumping from 30, 20, 30, 20, and so on. I’m more than happy to just accept that if there are street lights every 200 yards then it must be 20. It’s no big deal.
@michaelchartres
@michaelchartres Жыл бұрын
Firstly thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Unfortunately you are wrong about the street lights. There are many places where it is still 30 and even 40 mph in spite of the street lights being spaced the way they are. The rule is if you can see 3 street lights it is "Probably" 30 unless the signs say otherwise. That applies to England as well.. Regards Michael

Next time visit the railway museum at the bottom of station street. The castle hotel at the top of town has the most beautiful beer garden views

I wonder how many votes Labour have lost due to the 20mph limit in Wales!!?! Some lovely country side in your drive about. I do like the court yards, very French in style.

@@robsurname4054 20mph would not attract me to holiday there, from my experience the vehicles have to be in lower gears so less fuel efficiency, which equals more pollution and for longer. In my area the issue is less to do with speed and more to do with pedestrians not using crossing and just wondering into the road like delinquent sheep.
@robsurname4054

@@flyingkub If you blame the victim then maybe you are not fit to drive? You need to take responsibility for driving a 1 tonne vehicle down the road and understand that pedestrians, young, old, impaired will sometimes make mistakes.

@@flyingkub I don't consider you a fit person to drive. You blame the victims even though someone with as many dead brain cells as you must realise that people sometimes make mistakes - be they young, disabled, vulnerable of mind etc. You drive as if these people do not exist, but they do indeed exist, therefore give up your licence, you are not fit to drive at all.
