Hello sir, im a rookie sleeper ca otr driver 53 foot trailer. Plzz explain when doing 45 degree alley dock , where should my wheels be when i make the hard right. Should they be the yellow or white line of the dock im backing in or the trailer next to it. And then how much should i turn right before i start straightening it up by turning hard right .

And when setting up the 45 degree angle. Do i accelerate or no or just let the truck move in gear and go to 12 o clock and then to 3 o clock. Where should be the rear tires so i can begin turning to right ?

@@JoeSingh-i5b go slow! Is the trailer on time ( going into the alley) early - heading to the right of the alley. Late ( going way to the right side) You must learn to control the trailer movement. Reacting to your trailer movement. Keeping the trailer on time.

@@JoeSingh-i5b we train CDL Students with reference points during the first 2 weeks of training. A CDL driver may use reference point - the distance between the trailer on the left side. As I said many times - your job is to bring the trailer into the alley dock on time. You make the adjustment by reading or controlling the movement of your trailer. The more backing you do, the faster you will get it. You are the BOSS of the trailer. It only goes where you want it to go.

I failed my backing part of the test twice now. The first time was on the offset. The second time I didn't even pass the straight line back. I noticed the testing site's ground was not leveled, so even when the cones were straight, they looked curved because the ground was curved down. What's your suggestion for straight-line backing on uneven ground? I never had trouble when during training, but the moment I took the test, I was in a different truck, I wasn't familiar with the truck, and I don't think the mirror was adjusted correctly to me. And then the uneven gravel really messed me up. I did so terribly that I couldn't back straight, I never have issues with the straight-line back. I am sure I was super nervous. But it's really painful to fail two times, both times not even close to getting them right. I will be testing again in a week.

@@mikeylin1011 if you are proficient in all skills, what’s on the ground is not the issue. Be nervous and not focused on the task is the problem. It’s your responsibility to make sure your mirrors are adjusted properly for you. Improperly adjusted mirrors will affect backing skills. Your CDL school should never set you up for testing if you are not proficient in all skills. Also you should have practice in the tractor trailer that was on your test. Sounds like you are testing at your CDL school. Correct? Get sleep if possible before your test. Are you doing the forward control stop - reverse offset ? Or the parallel park and offset back?

@@truckerstevecdlinstructor I was nervous during the test and I wish I had the opportunity to get familiar with the truck and the mirror. I need to do 4 movements in the test, forward control stop, straight back, then pull forward to the left lane and back in, or I believe it is called offset back. I will try to watch more of your videos. I feel like if I have properly adjusted mirror or at least some seat time with the test truck, I wonldn't have that much trouble.

@@mikeylin1011called Reverse offset ( blindside parallel park). Ask for extra practice time - know or ask your instructor to help you with fixing a poor setup. Don’t rush.

Also in 90 degree alley, where should my tires be or the end of trailer before o start here right for 90 degree alley dock and when do i start straightening it up by hard turn to left. And im asking all this for sleeper berth 53 foot trailer not day cab or smaller trailer. Thanks sir, i watch all ur videos but im struggling

@@JoeSingh-i5b It’s all about the the trailer -left side (wall) and left trailer tires. You reacting to the trailer going into the alley. As the trailer is ( or tires is close to the cone) the right if needed to bring the trailer into the alley then the follow up to get the tractor under the trailer. Know when to stop- if the trailer is going out of the alley on the left side, stop and do a small pull-up then with the left back it in. Don’t forget to check the right mirror. Many backing videos on my channel - hope they will be of help.

@@truckerstevecdlinstructor let’s say a person goes to a CDL school, graduates, but due to improper training they hard having a hard time passing a certain part of the exam, skills for instance. Can that person go to a company paid CDL school, such as Knight or Prime, and get accepted? The gist of my question is can a student who may have graduated from CDL school, go to another school and start over. Schiender told me there policy doesn’t allow for it, I could come but they wouldn’t be paying for it.

@@Nard91-w8j you used the word graduated - that’s would mean that student pass. Has earned their CDL When that student goes to one of the big trucking companies, they will receive 4 to 6 weeks of training. A driver trainer will work with that student until they feel the new hire is ready. If the Student did not graduate, you can go to the big companies and receive training but will have to work for them for 1 to 2 years afterwards.
