I'm 60 and I remember my mum not changing a light bulb and waiting for my dad to come home, which is weird considering she used to work in a factory assembling the artillery shells when my dad was overseas fighting in WW2. 😂♥️✌️

My mum was born in 1932 in the then Irish Free State, and at my dad's request she applied for an Irish Driving Licence before driving tests were required. In 1962 he bought her car, a Hillman Imp for her birthday. She was tentative at first, but within a couple of years she'd take her younger kids, including myself, for a drive every Sunday just for fun. By 1968 she graduated to a Jaguar XJ6. She was never involved in an accident on the road, but once, just after she'd "parked" at home, she forgot to put the car in neutral or apply the hand brake. As she leaned over to get something from the back seat, she took her foot off the foot brake and the car jumped forward and smashed into our house. She was obviously in shock, my dad had heard the crash and came out to see what had happened. He came out and said to her "Come on Bid," (an affection Irish shortening of the word Biddy) " come inside and I'll make you a cuppa tea." He got the car repaired, the repair cost hundreds of pounds, and never said another word about it :-) In 1969 we moved back to a farm in Ireland for a few years. It just as well my mum could drive, because dad was regularly commuting back to England to maintain his building business. It was a very rural community, no pubs and just one church, so she had to drive us to and from school each day, though in summer I'd sometimes walk the 4 miles back home. Without a car she'd have been stuck on that bloody farm with 5 kids 24/7. Dad died in 2010 and mum passed in July of this year. I miss them both.

Sounds like you had a lovely childhood. And your Dad's reaction to your Mums accident was commendable. Most men (and women) would have been angry and possible lost it. He was obviously an empathetic person, knowing your Mum was probably upset. I have no doubt you will continue the family tradition !

When she reached for the ignition and the camera panned out to the wide shot of the car, I swear I thought the car was going to blow up. 😂 I think Gabby would get a kick out of these too.

In reality women flew planes during the war as they would move them to different air bases but as soon as the war was over they were expected to go back to the kitchen sink.I loved Harry as he highlighted how stupid stereotypes were.

I'm a guy, and I am terrible at parallel parking. I just can't do it, mainly because no one every attempted to teach me. The year I got my license, Jefferson County in Texas decided not to require a driving test (which included parallel parking), a decision they reversed the next year after people like me caused a lot of wrecks.

My mother learned how to drive before drivers licences were required. Once they were required, anyone who was already driving was just simply issued a licence. She never did a driving test ever. In all honesty, she was a terrible driver but managed somehow to never have an accident once in her life. She never parallel parked unless there were two spaces together, and she would drive forward to occupy the forward space thus negating the need to put the car in reverse. She would simply pull out into traffic by checking the side mirror only. Lane changes were made the same way. As kids we never really noticed, but once we started driving as teenagers she scared the crap out of us. On family trips, my dad always drove (probably for his own sanity, and partly for our safety). Once my dad passed away, she didn’t drive much which was probably a good thing. One day, she told us that she was going to give up driving because “someone almost hit her” as she claimed. From what she described, it sounded like she ran a red light and some other driver laid on the horn as he slammed on the brakes. She must have had some amazing Guardian Angel looking out for her all those years. She’s gone now and we all miss her dearly, but we all rejoiced when she announced that she was giving up driving and selling the car.

I’m in my sixties and remember the first ad for a car that I saw aimed at women. It must have been at least the 1980s, but might even have been the early 90s. The selling point of the car was - it had a place to put your umbrella.

My wife, brilliant woman and I love her to bits. But when it comes to driving she does let herself down. However I've driven all my life from the age of four, HGV's, tracked and motorcycles, so. I have a fair amount of experience. But I wouldn't like to be running a renal ward with eighty + staff, liasoning with Doctors, social worker's, etc, etc, so each to their own.

Hardly surprising with over 30 Million UK drivers:) The biggest laugh is when Women inform us that Men in the UK have more accidents and they DO have over 10% more. HOWEVER, what they do NOT say is that "on average" Men drive 3 times more miles per year and there are 4 times more Males driving so (3x4) there should be TWELVE TIMES more Male accidents not just 10%. ALSO, Men are much more likely to drive all over while most Women stick to regular routes, usually locally. Before Sat Nav. most Women I knew did not venture far and so many women I know will not drive on a motorway. OF COURSE, the best Women Drivers ARE Very good as they have NO EGO, like most Males...

Of course this is just poking fun at the avuncular public information films that used to come out in the 1940s and 1950s which were all riddled with sexist stereotypes. However, like all good comedy it does drawn on real life to some extent. Based on my own lifetime observations I think boys tend to develop spatial awareness (an essential prerequisite for many driving tasks) earlier than girls do. Of course that is a crude generalisation to which there are endless exceptions among boys and girls, however I think has a lot of truth to it. Those who lack that spatial awareness have to develop it to become good drivers and so IMO that is why some people (probably more women than men) start off driving lessons at a disadvantage.

Waooo!!!....Congratulations my friend Georgia!! ...Would you like to be part of the music history of this world, reacting to who is possibly the best singer in history and at the same time reach 15,000 subscribers very soon?...Well here you have your best gift of your life!!....Today it is very rare to find reactors like you who have never reacted to the best singer in the world, Dimash Kudaibergen, a young singer who handle 7 octaves and 3 semitones of vocal range (An alien) ...I am going to dare to recommend that you meet Dimash, because when you do it for the first time, your life as reactor will change forever ....For example, the number of views that you have today, it will increase by 300% in a matter of a few hours and you will get a lot of new subscribers...But when you react to Dimash, don't do it with his most recent songs ... I recommend that you go to the year 2017 and react to the song that made him a global idol ... I mean the performance he did Dimash from the famous French song called "SOS D'un Terrien en Détresse", when he participated in the famous Chinese reality show The Singer in that year 2017 ... With that performance Dimash earned the reputation of being the best singer on the planet, so I recommend you start with that one...And I have to give you a warning: Never react to The World Best videos, because they deceived him and treated him very badly.!...Your life will never be the same again, after reacting for the first time to Dimash...And your first reaction to Dimash will be something very special, so I recommend that you do the best job of your life as a reactor, because that first video will be seen by thousands of people around the world, maybe millions...I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Dimash....Here you have the best high quality video of Dimash performing S.O.S. Live 2017.....kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHW7ZHmeot6Bl8U

Good Reaction. Shall I be honest? After 500,000 (mainly) London miles involving thousands of journeys since 1980,I fully realize we are all individuals but other than sheer recklessness (some MEN) on the normal driving the "average" Male is far more proficient. A girlfriend once asked to drive my car into my drive. With a heavy heart, I allowed her. Straight into the Wall. My dogs recently knocked the gear into drive when I got out recently and after 17 without a scratch, my driverless car got caught up with a parked car, and while I tried to keep the cars separate a Woman said she would get in and reverse mine. She made it twice as bad but how could I say NO ! because I was trapped between the 2 cars? lol
