1:53 There's a similar moment to this in the Alpine Lodge set. In bag 1, they have you build a pine tree, and place it loosely onto a snowmobile transport. In the very last bag, it pictures a pine tree, one that it doesn't give you the pieces to build. It has the same bag symbol, bag 1. You pick that pine tree back up off the snowmobile, decorate it, and put it in the lobby of the lodge. It adds a story into the building of the set itself.

I completely forgot the video title until I saw this 😂 You're damn right, those first details were genius. I think the first bad model he mentioned was the Bonsai, which isn't exactly bad, but it is difficult to build and has some issues in the instructions, though nothing too serious. SCP-42069 SCP-42069 is a Keter-class anomaly, consisting of 2 objects, SCP-42069-1 and SCP-42069-2. SCP-42069-1 appears to be a normal red 2 stud lego axle at first glance. However, this is far from the truth. It is contained by a non-anomalous lego plant, which is designated SCP-42069-2, however this can easily be removed. SCP-42069-1 is capable of destroying reality as we know it if it is not in containment for more than 69 minutes. In the event that SCP-42069-1 is no longer contained by SCP-42069-2, recontainment protocol requires that someone must immediately pick it up in special gloves, and place it back into SCP-42069-2, and then quickly place the lid back over it. Incidents The first and only incident involving SCP-42069 occurred on June 9, 2007, in the western United States. During a test on SCP-42069, SCP-42069-1 was let out of SCP-42069-2 for 69 minutes and 15 seconds, during which, it managed to delete the entire population of Wyoming, where the site, Site-420, was located. SCP-42069-1 was quickly placed back into SCP-42069-2, and the lid was sealed tightly on. Anyone who knew people from Wyoming were given class-C amnestics. Security was tightened around it, and no more tests were conducted about how long it was safe for SCP-42069-1 to be uncontained. There have been no other incidents since then.

In the Himeji Castle set, there's an entire area built between steps 144 and 172 that is never to be seen again. Yet, it appears to have some components that you would think would be visible. There are also some passageways built into the walls of the main gate area that, without a tiny mirror, you can't really see in the completed set.

The axle down the center of the turntable at 2:32 help stop the turntable from popping apart if the model is lifted by its head. The turntable clips into its base with the same mechanism that a frictionless pin does into a Technic beam (split with tabs on the outside to lock into the hole); the axle prevents these tabs from pushing in, making it a lot harder for the pin on the turntable to disengage from the base if pulled (like if someone lifted the model by its head for example)

I assumed the technic axel in the upscaled minifig was intended to make a more audible clicking sound when turning the head. It adding strength to that connection makes a lot of sense though. The only thing I can think of is maybe the axle prevents the top half from tilting to the side. You would still be able to pull the head straight off but if you like pushed on the head it might prevent it from falling off sideways because the axle would get jammed between the two parts.

09:18 'Spot the difference ' is kinda how I liked it haha! I had Lego in my youth, and picked it up again a few years ago woth the Christmas village themes. I noticed how easy it was now. During the covid years I rebuild my old Lego, and putting together the 6270 Pirate Island was pretty difficult at times. I still like it because it becomes a bit of a puzzle instead of cookie-cutter. With new sets I started to cut open all bags and dump them together in a bin. Very satisfying to rummage through that looking for a 1x1 specific piece ;)

At best, you'd get a picture with 4 steps that didn't clearly show where some pieces went or how they attached. Another reason for the printed blocks getting covered. It's easier to just add 4 identical printed parts than it is to split the machinery and add 1 printed part and 3 blank

At 7:49 you're actually supposed to include the figures in the ship, so it makes sense. But it's weird they wouldn't show them in the blue box

I one time got this Lego technic set for a green dragon-themed monster truck. One of the steps required me to use this really long black piece, but the longest black piece in the set was one hole too short. So in a later step, I couldn't follow the instructions exactly. I did end up building it successfully despite this, but it did leave me with one unused (but was supposed to be used) piece.

I dunno, some of the newer lego instructions have been so bad that even I struggle with glasses on!

All extra connectors (round or cross) are useful if you connect more than one of the same set together. Obviously no instruction has a specific step for the second (or third or fourth, ...) set as that's totally up the buyer to choose.

I actually really like that hidden gemstone in the treehouse set. That aught to give someone a laugh when building it.

The Lego Office set comes with 4 ninja stars, even though the set only requires 1. I made use of all 4 to give dwight a few more weapon stashes.

On the Eldarodo set, check out the instructions for the classic yellow castle. It has like 8 steps and the castle wall is built.

In the Knuckles' Guardian Mech set from the Sonic the Hedgehog line you are told to put 3 green crystal pieces in the Master Emerald. I was confused about this 'till I realised it was a reference to the Sonic Adventure games and how the beat Knuckles' stages you need to find 3 pieces of the Master Emerald. I love when sets have deep cut references for fans in the liscenced sets like this.

Have you encountered LEGO instruction steps which have you remove pieces, rather than adding them? I know this occurs in the 75292 Razor Crest. They're added temporarily to stabilize the build, until being re-positioned in later steps.

I've never built a model with the new instructions, and I've never had any trouble with the old instructions. Spotting the differences was part of the challenge, as was searching through the pile. In fact, I eventually had enough LEGO to just fill up a whole drawer, and would rummage through the whole drawer when building. Not sure exactly when LEGO turned from a fun but difficult building challenge into something you should be able to do while barely conscious.... NOR WHY.

Older instructions booklets were showing you a puzzle to solve, but let enough mystery to make the fun longer. Now the younger instruction sets just finish up quickly then leave you wondering where the fun is :D

What you talk about at the end: no numbering and no piece-wise instructions, that's what I call building. I always dump all the bags in a big pile at the beginning. Much more fun and engagement that way, and I actually hate how basic today's instructions are. I olden days there used to be just pictures of alternative builds on the back of the box and we did it. That was the point.

I like the older (80's \ 90's ) instructions. No massive thick books because every picture ads 1 or 2 pieces, including an index, but just building. Learning to look, and spot differences. For example, number 852 or 853, helicopter or car. Technicsets with insturctions as a poster, . No index, just 20 large steps and you build a car, helicopter or whatever.

POW blocks are cubes so the 1x2 is not a POW block but half of a POW block. Even if the other side is covered up, both sides should say POW since the finished cube is one game object.
