BTW.....I wholly applaud the fact that you dismantled the glass scale to cut the aluminium and lastly the glass scale.....that makes it super easy with the diamond cutter in the Dremel and is far more precise.......I cannot imagine how anyone could think of cutting through the scale with a bandsaw even though it worked for them.

Interesting video. Quite well explained but too much fast forward has lost me. I have a Sieg SX2LF and and the first problem is, I can't find a power feeder for this type of mini mill. Secondly, I have exact type of linear scales as shown here. and they are longer than the ordered lengths. I have two, one for X axis (ordered as 400 mm but came as 520 mm) and the other for Y axis (ordered a 250 mm but came as 360 mm), I have no choice but to shorten them to fit the milling table (X) and the Y movement. Your video about how to shorten the scales is excellent, particularly the removal and shortening of the glass strip. Hadn't it been fast forwarded I would have had a better idea on how to do it because, I believe, the shortening of the scales is quite a delicate operation, meaning, stuff it up and you're done. So, up to the installation of the scales to the machine, I mostly understood, but the ending part where it is programmed or tuned, I am somewhat lost. I purchased the DRO from Banggood, less the linear scales, in October and have had a lot of bang but not good, as I have been trying to understand why the scales are sold over sized. And this video does explain it all. As for the third scale (Z). I will do that later, as I have to decide where to install it beside the machine. Your machine is quite a beauty, however, at the end of the video it looked like the machine was working like a CNC, like auto milling the work. Do you have that on your Mill? Also, do you know where to get an auto feeder for my Sieg milling machine? Mine is smaller, but packs quite a punch, quiet too. Once again, thanks for the video, I feel confident and happy to try to shorten the scales now. Cheers mate.

Is that in USD or UKD, or AUD? My DRO is a digital screen and came without the 3 axis from Banggood. I have to find the matching axis, don't know where to get them from.
@TinC334 жыл бұрын
Usd, you can buy also the axis from same link, jist choose size and add to cart, then choose another size and add to cart...

@@mickcarson8504 check your move on each axis and buy 5cm longer than total move you can stil cut them.
@mickcarson85044 жыл бұрын
@@TinC33 I can't believe this. You say, check the full movement of each axis and buy the gratings one inch longer. Yet, the stupid Banggood, I've sent them 6 emails, asking for the correct size to go with the LCD DRO and they keep repeating the same thing about buying them separately. Of course, I keep telling them, of course I know about buying them separately, but what length, what is the size to go on a Sieg SX2LF? And they emailed again, same shit about "You have to find them..." yada yada yada, again and again. At this rate with Banggood, it will be Christmas soon, WTF? So, do these axis devices plug on all DROs behind or are they only for selected DROs, e.g. your axis doesn't work on mine because yours is push button, while mine is touch screen LCD? Or, are they all the same? My DRO is a YIHAOGD LCD 3 Axis, but came without the axis gratings.

@@mickcarson8504 true it's a bit tricky to find right leinght, that's why i tell how long is each i order, but always better to order longer, because you can shorten ghem but not extend. The dro display are different and i'm not 100% sure but i'm 98% that rails work with all kind of display, specialy if they'r from same manufacturer

Banggood sell 3 different dro's but i test this one and give you a link only for that dro, because i don't know others. here in that product link is all you need, but need to make at least 3 orders with different "size" you need one digital read out 2 or 3 axis and 2 or 3 scales, choose the leinght you need.

@@speedfight49 you mean that: www.banggood.com/custlink/GDDvelDz9C Its a link to that product, than you firstly choose one reedout, put to cart, than choose scale leinght you need, put to cart and so on, than just go to cart and buy, is that what you think, because i don't understand perfectly
@ddegn5 жыл бұрын
As TimC33 suggests, you need to add four items to your cart. The 3-axis readout is the very first option. After adding this to the cart, you add three of the linear scales. You can combine any sizes of scales you want. I didn't know it was possible to shorten the scales until I saw this (very interesting) video.

I don't got them, banggood start to ship via netherland, so last time i reaceived everithing from netherland (EU) so there's no tax, maybe thay payed before, and also banggod offer us insurance for tax, so if you must to pay tax banggod will give you back all the money till last cent you need to pay. I use that sometimes and it actually work.

Did you try to send them videos or photo? also you can chack if all the cables on socket and sensor are soldered good.
