The weather outside is... Unpleasent!! Therefore I will not be recording any new material until this Spring. In the meantime, enjoy this flashback to 2019 when I owned a 2004 8th Gen Impala. After changing out the cabin air filter, the first rain soaked the interior carpet on the passenger side. To solve the leaking issue, I purchased and installed a cowl deflector shield meant for a 9th Gen Impala. As you'll see, the 8th & 9th Gens share the same cowl, so this deflector shield fits the 8th Gen perfectly.
GM Part #15794785
I purchased mine from eBay - just search for the above part number.

I sorta did this to my 2003 but I didn't use the cover because at the time, I didn't know about it. However, I glued that weather stripping on the metal because it had come off during a heavy rainstorm and ended up flooding the back seat and a little bit of the front seat. I had a fan in there for a week going nonstop. But the worst part is that I didn't catch this right away, so it also damaged the wiring harness in which the wire from the amp to the radio is affected so I had no radio. I was able to use a fix I found online to strip out the corroded wiring and soldered in a new wire and all worked well again!

So, this same car was having audio issues long after the wet floor. My immediate thought was that connector of which you speak. Pulled the carpet - connection was pristine. Started poking around and found the connector at the amplifier in the trunk was partially dislodged. IIRC, the kid had picked up one of his friends and put their bike into the trunk. By doing so, he scraped the wheel up against the amp and popped the connector loose. 🤦‍♂️D'oh!!
