2002 GMC Yukon water pump with thermostat replacement.
NOTE: use a big vice grip for the radiator hose clamps, those are a pain in the ass to remove and install, so using a big vice grip to hold the clamp compressed will help
Tremendously.
Also, to remove the fan from the water pump pulley, you can use an adjustable wrench with a hammer to loosen the nut on the fan. Place the adjustable wrench on the nut, then hammer it to the left to loosen the fan. If you want to tighten the fan back, you just hammer the wrench to the right.

I replace a water pump on a 2003 Escalade and when I drained the coolant I also drained it from the radiator so I would say almost all the coolant came out, put everything back together and the reservoir took about a gallon of coolant then I added another 3/4 a gallon started the vehicle and drove it around the block and it overheated it seems like I can't get the system to pull the coolant through do you think it could be the thermostat or is it tough to get the coolant through the system with the air in the lines any advice would help me thank you

Hi i have a 2002 cadillac escalade 6.0L and my question is do i have to turn the heater on hi with the top off of the reservor to get rid of the air out the system after i refilled the reservor with antifreeze coolant with the top off of the reservor or should i just let the truck run for just a few seconds without the heater on hi and the top off the reservor to get rid of air from the system?
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 8 жыл бұрын
+Edward Moore you want to run the engine until the radiator fan kicks on, usually takes 30 mins or 45 mins if you're letting it idle. Then once the radiator fan kicks on, you turn the heater up high so that the hot coolant can flow through the heater core. If you want the radiator fan to kick on faster, you can rev the engine to 3000 RPM and wait for about 15 minutes or so, and the radiator fan will kick on. Then turn on the heater up high. Either way works.

nice vid. what were your first and second signs of your water pump going out? I have a 04 suburban and I heard a faint grinding/rotating sound thinking it was my old fan clutch so I replaced it, it was still making the sound, so i drove it w/o the new fan clutch and i still hear the faint rotating/grinding sound from that area but slightly, u think its still the wpump bearings? it is not overheating or leaking from p-hole? U think it makes sounds before the peep hole? Thanks!
