Arthur Rhodes and Armando Benitez were seemingly at the centerpiece of every Yankees rally during the dynasty.

Arthur Rhodes had a fine career. It is a little bit difficult to explain how the Yanks always did great against him, and it didn't matter who he was pitching for. They nailed him in the 96 playoffs when he was with Baltimore, and they nailed him in 2000 and 2001 when he was with Seattle. The homer Justice hit off him in Game 6 of this series is about as hard a hit ball as I've ever seen.

October 11, 2000 was also opening night at Madison Square Garden for the Rangers and Mark Messier's return to New York from Vancouver. I was there with my uncle and we were watching this game on his Sony Watchman. Most everyone else in our section was crowded around behind us watching it too before the puck was dropped. This was pretty much a yearly occurrence back then because the Yanks always seemed to be in the ALCS when the NHL season started.

little payback for 1995.....which even though my Yankees lost, I still rank that as one of the best postseason series ever....5 exciting games

That little skip Jeter had after he hit it told you he knew it was gone as soon as he hit it. You don't see him do that very often. Usually it's always run hard on contact. Which I miss nowadays, screw these batflips and stares...

People forget the context here, Yankees finished the season terribly, could not hit. Struggled against the A’s and we’re shut out in game 1. They then felt lifeless in game 2 until this inning. Close to 20 innings without scoring a run Yankees went.
@iamhungey123454 жыл бұрын
Hence why I felt it was the ALDS where the Yankees turned it around, the momentum were against them entering the postseason. Though as you mentioned argument can be made of Game 2 of ALCS.
