What did you have to go through to get the aftermarket radio installed and would you know anything about the door speakers in terms of replacing them with different ones 4. What performance changes would you recommend on this engine? Yours sounds great but is there a limit to what i could do to mine?
@dsauto755 жыл бұрын
1. The wiring harness is different from the 3.9 to the 5.9 2. Install the same duration/lsa camshaft and have it tuned. 3. I bought an adapter harness and install kit so it makes the radio plug and play. The door speakers are 6x9 JBL that I have and rear are 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 JBL, I can't remember. 4. Honestly an exhaust, tune, and better air intake system will make it run much better. This setup is limited by the stock intake, but with a better intake I'm sure it would run much better.

My bottom end is stock right now. Just wondering.. do you still drive this truck?
@dsauto755 жыл бұрын
@@Blaydrnnnr yes I do. It's just a stock rebuild with the block decked and heads shaved to yield more compression. It is still going strong. I need to tune it up but haven't had the time. I know stock heads untouched can support 400 hp, but the intake is my biggest restriction now. I would like to have an M1, but I would say the Hughes intake is the best bet. Just can't bring myself to spend that money.
@Blaydrnnnr5 жыл бұрын
@@dsauto75 Trust me I know....but part of the higher cost is it comes with almost everything for the install. When you factor in gaskets, hardware, TB adapter, O-rings, etc.. it gets close to what you'd spend on everything... almost. The M1 is great too...but I dont know much about the "direct" replacement of everything. The Hughes Airgap has its issues, but its small stuff. I spent more time trying to fit the new cross over line that comes with it, then the actual removal of the old intake...LOL I had the old one out in about 1h, and had the Hughes already put together...but theres NO WAY that hard plastic cross over line is going on there...I ruined the one it comes with, PLUS 2ft of new stuff from Advanced...I finally just went with 5/16" fuel injection line and European clamps, ( fuel injection clamps..NOT worm type clamps..) So far, its great...and its been on there awhile now... I've heard great things about the M1. But when it comes to specs, its a war of words amongst people...I just wanted to make sure I can feed whatever cam I decide to throw in. So heads ( pretty sure Hughes used Edelbrock heads then work them themselves..) and a cam should move some air, and still keep it my daily driver. Since your cammed, yeah, you gotta feed it so that stock Kegger gotta go sooner or later... I'll tell ya one thing, after the stall change, the shift kit, and the Airgap, when this thing winds up...it "shits and gits"...hoping a modest cam and heads will make it fast enough in a pinch to get to the merge lane before the asshole next to me...LOL
@dsauto755 жыл бұрын
@@Blaydrnnnr I've read a lot on it, and I know the kegger was always the worst choice. I don't think it will be bad to do and I know it needs it, it's just committing I guess. @dsauto756 жыл бұрын
BigTony1710 you could only have a 5.9 5 speed from the factory in a 2500 truck. This one was originally a 5.2 but I was given the 5.9. I built it and the only downtime the truck had was changing engines. I still have the original 5.2.

@@dsauto75 it takes those o2 sensors just a few seconds to fully heat up and give you an accurate reading, bc the exhaust gas needs to be close to the same temperature as the sensor to read correctly

eric devore do what?
@MillennialRebelion6 жыл бұрын
The lean mixture when you first start it.
@dsauto756 жыл бұрын
eric devore these trucks have a fuel filter built in to the fuel pump, and this one is about two years old. It's not lean because of fuel pressure, it's only lean when it is fully warm and is shut off for a few moments and then started back up. After a few more moments of idle it will straighten up.
@MillennialRebelion6 жыл бұрын
i have a 95 1500 with the 5.9 they have an inline filter, but you sir have a problem. where it's at exactly idk. You could need to replace the filter again. There could be a hole in the line that lets it suck just the tiniest amount of air as it settles, it could be draining back into the tank from the injectors letting air hang in the injectors. You should never be running that lean on anything thats fuel injected when you first start it. Thats kinda the idea behind fuel injection. Is it serious no. Annoying to some people like me..... Very....
@dsauto756 жыл бұрын
eric devore no they do not have an in line fuel filter. They are all part of the fuel filter in the tank. Like previously stated, fuel pressure is what it should be, and the injectors are brand new. It is either MAP sensor or the upstream O2, because it wouldn't start making more fuel pressure the more it runs.
