2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ -30* Cold Start, Exhaust, Flowmaster 40 Series

Tired XJ cold start on a deep freeze morning. Yes it doesn’t sound the best, but shortly after it went in to a shop for a major engine refresh. It was also running in low voltage and XJs will sometimes belch black smoke in this condition, not to mention that the fuel was very thick and I had to press the accelerator to the floor to get enough flow.
It was so cold that I had to keep it manually idled for about a minute and a half before it warmed up enough. Pretty impressive.

Cold start jeep is running

The coldest I had ever started my jeep was 0 degrees in PA winter. When I tried to drive it, my oil pressure gauge pegged all the way to 80 and the check gauge light came on. I had to let it warm up for about 20 minutes before I had normal oil pressure . What does your oil pressure gauge say on these cold starts?

I sold this Jeep a while ago, but if I remember correctly it was relatively normal. I used 5w30 Synthetic in the winter since it is thinner.

Go ahead! This one is MPFI, but earlier models used a Renix system and even earlier models with the carb I believe were throttle body. Thanks!

Impressive but not a good idea to over rev a cold engine like that, very bad for the engine in the long term.
