For the amount of years that I've been working on vehicles I just noticed something that should have been noticed. I was always using a breaker bar to compress the coil but you got it right by using the jack and compressing it that way. Good job and great video. I just got my 3-in lift and I'll be doing the same this week

I bought a budget boost kit from JGCParts for my 04 Cherokee... 2.5"front and 2"rear. Their instructions really did not go into detail. Your video saved me $$ from having to take my Jeep into an auto shop to get mine installed. I also installed new shocks so the job took me a few hours. Thank you for posting this video, it was really really helpful. positioning of the spring compressors is key, i rented mine from my local auto store. Thanks again.
@mrhupen10 жыл бұрын
You placed the spacers on the bottom of the springs but rusty's website says they ride at the TOP of the springs. Did you do this for any particular reason? This kit is simply a set of 4 spacers positioned on top of the factory coil springs. Since the factory coils are retained, you can be sure this kit has no negative effects on the excellent factory ride characteristics! No bump stops are needed; we have found that they may limit travel more than needed unless you use a significantly larger tire. We recommend a maximum 245 size tire for this kit. The factory shock absorbers are long enough to work with this kit, however we recommend replacing them with Rusty's Hydro Performance Shocks for an better ride and for proper extension travel when the vehicle is used off-road.

NOT true. I talked to the guys at Rusty's Offroad. They said theoretically it does not matter if it's on the top or the bottom. The spacer is not a vibration dampener it's a spacer. With or without it the vibration would be the same if it was on top or bottom.

Why don't you explain to everybody why they should be on top vs the bottom is there a difference in your opinion? And don't give me some bullshit answer like that's what the instructions say because instructions are generally a guideline on how to do things not this is exactly how it should be done. What do you think is going to happen if it was installed that way? How long do you think I drove it like that for without having problems? My KZbin channel has all the video evidence you'll need LOL
@johnpugh8610 жыл бұрын
In your video for the front and the back you decompress the spring, put the compressor on, then compress the spring all the way back down, that doesn't make any sense. You do the same thing when you're taking the compressor off. You ought to be installing the compressor at the springs most compressed state as well as uninstalling it at its most compressed state, it will save you a good amount of time and trouble.
@FastestIntegra10 жыл бұрын
"You ought to be installing the compressor at the springs most compressed state as well as uninstalling it at its most compressed state." Only if you can fit the spring compressor on when the springs are all the way compressed. Not happing the spring compressor is about a 1/2 inch thick.
@johnpugh8610 жыл бұрын
I think you're completely missing my point. Even at the amount of compression at which you remove the springs, there is still enough space to get the lip of the compressor in and out of the space between the coils. I'm just saying you're making too much work for yourself, not that you're doing anything "wrong." I appreciate that you made these videos, things like this help a lot when guys come asking around on forums about how to install their new lift. Thanks.

That being said, My WJ has 219,000 miles the front CV axles are bad now after 4,000 miles mostly off road since the 2" lift. I want to blame that on doing Donuts in mud and snow, not under normal driving.

Did you have any rub running that size before the lift?
@FastestIntegra5 жыл бұрын
I drove it straight home from the tire shop didn't rub on the street but if doing any kind of wheeling it will rub.

FastestIntegra Cool, good to know.

Good way to take the wheels off. Fuck alternating sides, just do it in order.

Do the rears go on top or bottom of the spring?
@mariachiforhire35462 жыл бұрын
Correct me on this, but the coil compressor was not necessary in this case?
@GaryGalmin10 жыл бұрын
So I see you put the front spacers on the bottom. For skyjacker (same spacers) they detail you needing to put the front spacer on the top. Have you changed this or had any issues?
@FastestIntegra10 жыл бұрын
Theoretically it should not matter if its on the top or bottom. It drives like stock and 4wheels even better.
@GaryGalmin10 жыл бұрын
It was a good video and what I used as reference to install mine a few days ago. I just ordered the addco rear sway bar and new rear sway bar end links too. The stock one is so thin and cheap.
@FastestIntegra10 жыл бұрын
Gary Galmin Did your put your spacers on top or bottom? The factory sway bars definitely need to be upgraded for road use.
@GaryGalmin10 жыл бұрын
***** I ended up putting my front spacers on the bottom and rears on the bottom also with new skyjacker shocks.
@GaryGalmin10 жыл бұрын
Just an update to this. My spring perches were rusted out and bought the repair kit from ironrock and once they were welded on, I moved the front spacers to the top and it rides a lot better.

Why didn't you put the compressor on before you lowered it

Not enough space.

What part of jacking a vehicle up from the axle scares you?

Hi,do you have a kicking in schoks when you ride a offroad?
@FastestIntegra5 жыл бұрын
kicking in schoks? no
@MontanaBallistics4 жыл бұрын
Why not leave it jacked up before putting on the coil compressors then let the jack down? Seems like ALOT of extra work/time for no reason...
@FastestIntegra4 жыл бұрын
There was not enough space for me to do that. The compressor just would not fit with it jacked up.
@MontanaBallistics4 жыл бұрын
Those hooks can't fit between the springs?

One of my latest videos is putting on 1.5 inch wheel spacers. Next video I will be posting is the how to install Bushwacker cutout fender flares. It was a lot of work.

After lifting 2 inches my JGC WJ developed a death wobble. No problem with yours?

No death wobble and I have been doing a lot of 4 Wheeling with it and it's still good.

One question: Is the shock absorber the same as the original one or did you change it for a longer one?
@FastestIntegra Жыл бұрын
You could use the stock shock absorbers for up to 2 inch after that you need a longer shock

@bentlee681610 жыл бұрын
I'm looking to do the same to my jeep and i have some questions for ya. 1.Did you have replace other parts like brake lines or sway bars? 2.How are the coil spaces working out for you/ have you had any trouble with them. 3.Did you get exactly 2" of lift? more or less? And does you'r jeep sit even after lift was installed. sorry for so many question. great video by the way!
@FastestIntegra10 жыл бұрын
1. You don't need to replace anything with the 2" lift 2. It drives like stock and 4wheels even better. 3. I got exactly 2" front and rear. Watch the beginning and the end of the video for the before and after pics.

Neato! Now, what are "jounce bumpers" and where are they installed? Came across this term just today, and wondering if they help with bottoming out issues.
@codyd.189 жыл бұрын
VideoNOLA Jounce bumpers are pretty much exactly what they sound like: small bumpers that prevent your body from bottoming out into your suspension. They're installed behind the spring, under the vehicle.
@VideoNOLA9 жыл бұрын
Cody Deitz Thanks. I've since learned that "jounce bumpers" is what some people call "bump stops", which are two large rubber "bricks" that insert into two cups above the front axle. Mine were old and disintegrated (almost missing entirely). Found a cheap pair on eBay and installed 'em ... no more thuds!!
