I learned working with a motorcycle mechanic that small hammer impact driver to break the boats loose works great especially on aluminum....just sayen...

Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, they work great on them, but a motorcycle doesn't spend most of its life in/on the water. Much different! Really appreciate it. Stay tuned !

Sure hope Santa Outboard will bring you that HF electric impact gun and OMC puller for Christmas! I would definitely check the rectifier diodes and alternator windings... The burned red lead is for the rectifier output, and the yellow/red lead connects to the shift switch on the right side, that switch completes the ground side of the solenoid when it is in neutral...Perhaps someone swapped the leads and created a dead short. At this point, I would pull the powerhead and gearcase to do a complete job on this bugger, it is worth it...Once the powerhead is off, it will be easier to access/heat the water cover screws. I'm sure it needs a new water pump, the driveshaft splines lubed, and the inner exhaust tube grommet replaced. This job is gonna be all about the details, and all the little pieces/parts that will be needed to resurrect this thing. These powerheads/gearcases are fairly rugged, but I would certainly drain the gear lube before going much farther to make sure the lower unit is OK.
@THISOLDOUTBOARD15 жыл бұрын
Hahaha. I was just thinking about you not five minutes ago. Crazy Right. Actually the pump/impellar are in great shape and it's pumping water great too. Thank You Outboard Gods. Hahaha. I hope it was just a short that burned the wire, I have one on order, should be here tomorrow. We'll find out! The splines are lubed and the Gear case has been on for two days now, just need to do the oil change. Ok I'm giving up to information. Hahaha Keep in mind I'm a few days ahead of what your watching. You Hit the Nail on the Head about Details and parts and pieces ! That's for Sure. Thanks as always. Stay tuned !

What roughly going price for a 80’s 25 Evinrude outboard motor. A general expected price What was the step cleaner that clean the brass.

If I may, I would like to recommend you obtain an impact driver. I have an old school one but with stubborn screws and bolts after you spray them it is a miracle worker. Turns about 1/8 of a turn every time you hit it with a hammer. Far less knuckle busting and strips or even breaks from twist offs. They aren't expensive and you can get one on Amazon. I had a guy telling me he had tried everything to get the oil drain screw off an old outboard. I took it over there and with three smacks of a hammer opened it right up.
@THISOLDOUTBOARD15 жыл бұрын
Hey. Haven't heard from you in awhile. And, Yes you may. Your not the first. Trust me. I've been through 3-4 of them and still have the last one I bought. It's a POS. I realize now, (in this video), you are not referring to heavy corroded bolts like most people comment about but the screws on the pilot ring that I gently tapped. Correct? Anyway, I usually get the comments when I'm working on frozen corroded bolts and the impact driver is no match for Florida corrosion. Luckily that wasnt the case here. And I appreciate your input. And Yes, could have used an Impact driver but didn't need one. Key word here, "Impact". Dont want to "smack" that thing to hard and risk breaking/cracking the Ring. Really appreciate You Watching and Commenting. Don't be such a stranger. Stay tuned !
