I've had my CR300R for about 2.5 months and a little over 2k miles now. Town, highway, twisties... Here's what I think about the performance. Future videos will cover other aspects, including annoyances.

I enjoy my CB300R alot. No complaints with mine at all. Has all the power I need and its easy to ride. Almost 6000 miles on mine so its well broken in.

Own a 2019 and really enjoy this bike. Coming from cruisers of larger engine's and weight this brings more fun and lightness. Will agree needs to be kept above 4000 rpm to get usable power. Enjoy your videos

I have 80,000 kms on my 2019 cb300r and still love it. I also have a triumph speed twin 1200 for my solo rides, but when I ride with others I take the Honda.

That's a nice combo. If I was buying another bike today there's strong odds it'd be a Street twin. I rode a friend's MT07 today and even that makes it really easy to go too fast. I'd rather NOT start collecting citations. I figure with a Street Twin it's a bit less of a temptation but there's more than enough if you really want to. Plus it's got that classic look the rest of the time.

Hey man nice video. I have the same exact bike since 2021 and love it. Very nimble and light. I have to buy a front plate to deflect some wind. Does yours make a difference?

It really did. I don’t think I realized how much until I took it off recently. At 55, no real difference to speak of. At 75, night and day. I much prefer the look of the bike without it, but I am considering putting it back on.

@@Remymoto that’s also what I am debating I love the looks of the bike without it but when on the highway at 70-80 you kinda wish you have one. Thanks man for the reply and ride safe.

I really like watching your channel, great insight on owning a 300R. Anyway, I’m an old dude (64-years old) and in great physical shape at 5’11” tall, 175-lbs. I wanted to buy a 2023 CB650R since I miss the sound of an open header of the CB500-Four and CB750-Four I had in my teens and 20’s, and I know my riding days are numbered, if not already gone. After seeing your video, I wonder if I should first try a CB300R before jumping into a heavy CB650R. But am I too tall/heavy for a CB300R??? I have a 32-inch pants inseam. I mostly plan to take short rides and stay off the 4-lanes, mostly rural riding just outside a medium sized city near my home.
@Remymoto
@Remymoto Жыл бұрын
I wear a 30” inseam pant, but am basically a 32” inseam. 5’10. It’s comfy but slightly sporty in terms of leg position. Not adv/cruiser, but far from super sport. Honestly, I think you might be more comfy than me if your arms are also a bit longer. I always feel like I am leaning forward just a bit more than I would like to have a reasonable flex in my elbows. It isn’t bad, just not quite a fully upright position. Great at speed, not bad but not as comfy as an ADV position at low speeds. That said, I am also not a fan or leaned over body positions, so if you are more comfy like that it may still feel quite upright. I am definitely in favor of lighter. I think lighter makes everything easier except for the few situations where momentum is good. What you will miss is the power and sound. At best, with an aftermarket exhaust, it sounds like an annoyed swarm of bees. Power is, for a street bike, underwhelming but sufficient. It’s certainly not one of the old 4’s of any size. But, it handles so much better than larger bikes in most situations. You can carry more speed, flick it around more quickly with less effort. There is no need to muscle the bike at all. I have never once had to actually put real physical effort into handling the bike except once when trying to back out of a spot with a bunch of other factors involved. I simply couldn’t generate enough rearward force while on the bike. Luckily I could get far enough back to make a tight turn and leave, without bumping the Ferrari parked next to me. No nerves there… option two would have been to just get off it and have better traction to push the bike backwards.

@@Remymoto Thank you so much for your help and thoughts! Two years ago I thought about getting a 300R and mentioned it to a guy from my church that’s my age that has a old used Honda 500 retro cruiser type bike with the ape-hanger handlebars. When I earlier mentioned I was thinking of a 300R, he just laughed saying I would be run over by everyone on the road (I guess he meant it would be like riding a moped on a 4-lane hi-speed road.) This didn’t seem to happen to you! After seeing your video, I see you can really make all the speed I ever want, maybe not all the speed instantly, but I think I would regret more NOT getting a 300R than going too big for what I can really handle at my age. It’s going to be more of a toy than anything, not a main source of transportation. I retire in 5-months, so it will hopefully not used in busy or hectic traffic situations. Even when I had the 500-Four and 750-Four, I never exceeded 85-mph. I’ve had four Corvettes since then, and still never been over 85-mph. I also really liked seeing you use high-quality riding gear, a lot of riders do not and that scares me every time I see it. Two years ago when I first started thinking of a new bike, I wished for a Shoei RF-1200 helmet, now the RF-1400 is sold. Back in my younger years, I never wore adequate protection, I’d never do that now, CE rated protection here I come! Thanks again, I look forward to more of tour videos!

@@rays9033 Proper gear is important, for sure. I'll admit, there are times I don't wear EVERYTHING, but that's just when I'm doing local low speed short trips. The minute speeds are going to be higher I always have the jacket and riding jeans/pants. Even a low speed slide will be rough, but odds are good I reduced speed quite a bit before going down and I'll take my chances there. Highway, or even faster surface roads, geared up. That's why I have talked about making sure your gear is comfy and suits you. There's no need for it to be annoying. The 300R will absolutely do fast highway speeds. You won't want to just sit there and cruise for hours at 75+, but it would. My commute is about 20 minutes each way and most of the miles are I10 in Texas, which around here means if you are under 70 you're blocking traffic, 75+ is the norm. No issues keeping up, passing... Not a lot left in the RPM band, but it's enough. Plus, most bikes you don't get to rev it out through the gears regularly, I get to do it every day if I want. The only time I've had issues is on significant hills into the wind when I was.... well, trying to efficiently pass a semi, shall we say. I ran outa juice and had to wait till we turned and the wind wasn't quite so in my face. It's a naked bike, after all, you aren't that aerodynamic. I'll just point out that the modern Honda 500's aren't really much faster, they just accomplish the same thing at lower RPMs, so it's a bit less buzzy. That smaller single runnin fast is less relaxing than a twin running a couple K lower.

@@Remymoto good to know, thanks! Yeah, I’m guessing there are real performance gains that are overlooked due to the low weight of the 300R. I hope you keep making video’s, great informative stuff!

Hi Ya Ray. Greetings, I've got a red Honda CB300r, 2000 miles I thought of getting a bigger bike but rode a demo 300 when I went in the Honda shop to checkout a stihl chainsaw. I.m 6ft and not on the light side and was sceptical about the bike. But anyway after charging around at 70 mph on the thing I was hooked There's something uncanny likeable about this machine. Its a sum of all parts that work, sure there are things that I really don't like but only a slight few, like pathetic mirrors and a noisy chain but its got a good midrange and a blast to wind out and I feel very confident riding on it. Cheap on gas and yep ya get bit sore around the 200 mile mark. Fuel range is around 160 miles . I,m nearly 64 and never too old to ride into those sunsets. just get decent bike gear to wear. I bought a luggage rack with a Givi box which was a worthy edition, good luck with your choice.

I get a good bit more, but it really depends on the roads. Cruising at about 70-80km/h will get you really good efficiency. Pushing past 100 will reduce it a lot. Same with constant stop and go traffic. It’s better than a lot of bikes, but hardly a long distance cruiser for sure.

@Remymoto
@Remymoto Жыл бұрын
I was close to getting an R3, honestly, I think that would have been above the MT03 if I hadn't done the CB300R. I love their look and honestly it's not any less practical than the CB in the end. I'd still be running a tail bag and/or backpack. It's not so aggressive a riding position I'd have issues. It would probably be better on the highway for my commute. lol At one point an R3 was my top choice because there were a bunch available lightly used locally. But by the time I was actually buying there was only one and it was over priced. Overall the CB300R suits me better, but I think I'd have been quite happy with the R3 and an R7 is definitely on my list to get a test ride on at some point.

@@Remymoto I do love my r3 but I love the look of that Honda. It sits more upright. I’m getting close to 50 years old so I wanted a sport bike but after having fun this year I’ll be looking for something more upright and honestly you don’t need anything more than these 300-400 Japanese bikes for on the street. The fairings are great for aero but are a pain to maintain your bike. I’m not a highway rider so that is not important to me. I spend all my time on windy country backroads.

@@mrrick2904 You're gonna LOVE the CB. On my day's off I basically have a constant hunt going for well paved country roads around here. We've got a bunch of good ones but most are in need of refreshed surfaces right now. I'm hoping that's on the schedule for this summer's road crews.

Our weather is finally improving here. I don't mind cold so much, but we were having this weird cold, windy wet mix that would come and go by the hour and it was just annoying. Of course, I might miss it when it's 115 and there's no shade to be found and my seat turns to lava on a bathroom stop.

I realize a lot of people do it, but posting video of yourself doing that on a public road is idiotic. Since I don’t have somewhere handy where it is legal… let’s be real, it is a CB300R, top speed depends more on how aerodynamic you are and if there is a good tailwind than anything else.
