I had 2 have rear struts put on my 98 corolla for inspection...cost me 600. Said front ones should be replaced too, I ordered them off rock auto for $100 and will do them myself thanks to your video. I have ane at wrench so hopefully that will make it a little easier

Especially on older models if you let the spindle / rotor assembly fall / tilt outward away from the car after the strut is removed, it can pull the drive axle out of the transmission coupling. This can be a real hassle to re install for the beginner.

I am about to replace mine on my 2001 Corolla. I have a 1999 Corolla as a parts car. Would you guys recommend buying new struts or Can I just use the struts off of the 99 if they are in decent shape?

If they are in decent shape you could use them. The job does not take that long.

Well you would need a spring compressor if you bought just the strut. The struts he used in the video are “quick struts”, so they included the spring installed too. Usually cheaper quality but they work fine for normal driving

Always buy the complete assembly..its not worth the aggravation of compressing a spring for the small price difference

ISO/TS 16949 was the quality system standard for automotive manufacturers. It doesn't mean anything to you, but that number should now read IATF 16949 which is the new standard.

Your not suppose to remove the califer just turn the steering wheel to the left and you can get good angle for your tools

The ride height note claiming, "...Until the coil settles in..." is complete BS. It is the manufacturer saying in other words, "We just wung this sh*t. It is nowhere near the specs of your original OEM strut." It can sometimes ride rough or too soft if it is not designed the same. It is the price one pays, by saving money. For me that is ok and accepted sometimes. KYB is your best bet for OEM specs or better in some cases. And you will still pay %50-%75 less than what an OEM Toyota part will cost.

@fan1008 hey bro it usually take about 45 to an hour for each side... I take about a medium pace doin this n it takes me about less than 2 hours. Its actually easy to repair.that mechanic is taxing u an extra 2 hours 🤣.. Trust me on this. Can't trust mechanics these days. Best 2 learn on ur own n save a lot of money. That's the way I did it. @@tonistarks2874 thx lol. I actually did it myself and I don't think it's easy if you have no mechanical experience and I have no idea of what I was doing. It took me 20 hours total. I had a hard time getting my nut off and I kept making mistakes. Took 2 hours to loosen it loI. I did one side 3 times and the other 2 times.
