2000 Toyota Land Cruiser review - In 3 minutes you'll be an expert on the 2000 Land Cruiser
Email me anytime at JoeLovesHawaii@gmail.com
This month we're plugging a funny video about the Infiniti IPL and the fact that our salesman was completely misinformed about why it is called the IPL, discovering only in the end that he has completely embarrassed himself. Take a peek if you have an extra couple of minutes.
• 2014 Infiniti Q60 IPL ...
Hi, this is Joe Tunney at Honda of Seattle bringing to you a comprehensive catalogue of hundreds of great vehicles from throughout the automobile industry. Although we specialize in Acura, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, sports cars, SUV's and of course our beloved Infiniti product line, we also like to carry and review exotic cars from time to time like Ferrari, Dodge Viper, turbocharged all-wheel-drive cars like Mitsubishi Evo and Subaru WRX, as well as affordable vehicles that fit into every budget. For 2014 we are going to make a point of reviewing everything we carry, demonstrating for you the interior and exterior features and condition, the wheels and tires, trunk space, as well as an overview of power, technology, economy and driving characteristics to give you factual information as well as information unique to this particular vehicle so that you can enjoy a more intelligent shopping experience without ever having to step onto the lot.
A little about me. I have been the manager at Infiniti of Kirkland since 2004 and prior to that I ran a high end car boutique in neighboring Bellevue, Washington. For my career I have sold over 10,000 cars so I hope to bring you far more insight than you might ever know to even ask. I show you in some videos how to see if a car has been in an accident, how to make a great buy on a car with a bad Carfax, or why I wouldn't personally buy a car even if it has favorable reviews. Every once in a while I'll even have a little fun to keep the videos fresh but I want to make certain you know that you can always email me at joet@infinitiofkirkland.com if you ever have any questions or feel I have made a mistake or used poor judgment or poor taste.
I am truly thankful for the hundreds of thousands of views and more importantly, perhaps much more importantly, I am honored to have been viewed in over 200 countries around the world. We all are ambassadors for the things we believe in regardless of where we were born and from my little corner of the world here outside of Seattle, Washington I want to express my sincere gratitude for you having invited me into your home, your place of work, or for simply taking a minute of your valuable time to listen to what I have to say. Maybe we will never meet face to face, but I am forever in your debt for giving me the opportunity to share with you the things I have learned. 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser review. 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser reviews. 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser specs. 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser problems.

I bought myself 2005 LX470 (Landcruiser with a luxury package) 2 years ago for $25k with 75k miles. many people told me I was crazy for buying a 9 year old SUV for the price of a 3 year old Escalade. Well 2 years later my LX is still worth more than a 3 year old escalade with the same amount of miles.

Just bought a 2000 for $8000 with 165,000 miles. I test drove a Tahoe, Escalade, Volvo XC90, Acura MDX, and Toyota Sequoia. Nothing came close to the solid stable quiet smooth ride of the cruiser. I am so happy to get this rig and am looking forward to many many years with it. When I was a little kids my family owned a 1976 FJ and I learned to drive that when i was 10 years old. So it's finally come full circle for me today. :)

Newer Land Cruisers are amazing...not only are they incredibly well built, they are nicer inside that most new Mercedes and BMW luxury sedans. They are obviously way more expensive than prior generations so I don't recommend them based on what you get per dollar, but give 'em a few more years of depreciation and they might be the best choice of them all. But even then I'd take an '06.

Considering the initial purchase price and the longevity of the trucks, any decent cost is easily justifiable. Many overlanders view the 100 series as the best used 4x4 you can buy - while that is subjective I certainly agree. I bought an 01' w/ 140K miles on the odometer and to me it feels as solid if not more so than any new truck I could buy today. My only wish was to have the 5spd auto and the more powerful 4.7L, but in the grand scheme of things they're not deal breakers.. Great video - very informative.

I want one of these so bad. I drove a 88 Mercedes 300SEL before with 180,000KM and it was my first car. Now I want something really big! I would prefer the Lexus variant but would not complain with this one! I live a little bit out of town with almost two acres with partial waterfront and some land across the street where there are some wider roads to go on. I'm a little scared of the gas but I think it's a small price to pay considering all the money I'll save in service and parts compared to my old Mercedes :p love your videos! Late to the party. Recently bought a 1998 imported 100 hundred series from Japan via Canada. The model is "Active Vacation", it has a hand pump with a gray water basin with a hook up for a butane stove. Extreme Land Cruiser. Turbo diesel, 108,000 miles, right hand drive with a 5 speed. I drove a mail truck for 30 yrs so right hand drive is no big deal.

Found an 04 with 123K miles (never see them with that few miles!) and it came from southern california. No rust, just a little sunburn in the plastic grille.Interior will need a deep carpet cleaning, but was a non smoker car at least. paif $16K which was on the high side, but damn, no miles for one of these, the timing belt was done at 90K or so. Only complaint is a lack of storage under the frear floor and little hidden space to put the trailer hitch. But damn, the thing drives great, and hardly a buzz or rattle. newer suburbans feel like crap compared to it.

Most countries have greater variety of LandCruisers (and Toyota trucks and SUV's in general) than the US...yet the US sells the lion's share of the merchandise. I've never understood why. But LandCruisers (and Lexus LX470's) are so valuable in Russia...we have exported quite a few there over the years.

@@everycarSeattle you guys have the 4Runner, the Sequoia, the Tundra and the Tacoma which nobody else has. And they are much nicer than our 4 cylinder Prados, Fortuners or Hiluxes. Hi Joe, first and foremost love the videos. if you were still the car business I would like for you to walk me through the purchase process in buying my next car. Maybe you can help me virtually. I am ready to leave my 94 isuzu trooper and upgrade to a Land Cruiser and since you have owned them in the past, I was hoping you could help me. I am looking at 1 owner 43 service record 97 landcruiser with factory front and rear lockers with about 220k mileage the second option is a 2000 landcruiser with 225k miles. both LC are priced at 9-10k. this would not be a daily driver but for camping and hauling people around when needed. One major thing I don't like about the trooper is its struggle up the mountains and I am concerned 215hp on the 97 will not be enough and feel confident the 2000 will be fine but the factory lockers sound fun I am scheduled to drive both next week but wanted to get your opinion. Thank you for help, Ephraim

everycarSeattle Thanks, it's great to hear that. My late wife and I bought it certified pre owned from a Lynnwood Toyota dealership in February 2002. They used it as their runabout for 3 years before putting it on the market. It's performed flawlessly the past 13 years. A friend offered me 10K for it a couple of years ago, which I flatly turned down in a New York minute. I wouldn't sell it for 20K, it's like a brand new vehicle for all intent and purposes. I'm retired and there's no way I could every replace it. My theory is it won't be long before these will be as highly prized and sought after as certain muscle cars are today.

Too funny... Expert? Mentioned nothing about the drivetrain...engine...transmission...suspension...zero... Did he even utter the words, "four wheel drive"? I didn't hear it... Would I purchase a vehicle from a salesman who says he's an "expert" but knows nothing about it? I don't think so...

You're right to point all that out Leon. Most of my videos aren't too technological...some go crazy deep, but not that often. Most people just want to know how it fits and how it feels. Remember, I make these videos for my customer base, my customers then reach back out to me and ask me whatever it is they would like to know. I am not a paid spokesman.

This is all true but the number one thing on any customer's mind when considering the purchase of a motor vehicle is "Reliability". "Security" "Loyalty". "Will it get me home in the middle of a snowstorm after dark?" "Will it quit on the side of the interstate and leave me at the mercy of a roving biker gang?" "Will it protect me in a traffic accident?" "Fit and Feel" comes in third. First is reliability. Second is safety and performance. As it so happens, Toyota trucks are perhaps the most reliable vehicles on the planet. That's because the mechanical parts are built to military specifications. (A legacy from the time when the Japanese built trucks for the US military during the Korean War) A Toyota motor is engineered to last. If you regularly change the oil, it will run for a million miles - and then some. In a Toyota Land Cruiser, you can change all the fluids. A BMW X5 has a sealed transmission. You can't change the fluid. It will break after 150,000 miles. A new BMW transmission is $7,000. The Toyota transmission will last as long as the motor. Land Cruisers are built like tanks.

The engines, Diesel or gasoline are both very reliable and durable. The transfer box do make some click noise especially when pushing to D from R but that noise won't need a tow truck. Unlike the Range Rovers, chances of missing flight is common if no one is following from behind.

nothing he says is true. These vehicle will have a blown headgasket by the time it hits 250k miles. 100% guarantee. Also, transmissions on them are bad. Another thing to look at is driveshaft. People that buy em new or slightly used neglect even the basic maintenance. This vehicle is no better built than any other Toyota. If you don't change the coolant every 15 months, grease the joints and change the oils, this thing will be expensive to use. Not to mention lousy fuel economy. I got 12mpg with mine on good day. But they do keep their value, if everything on em works.

Y10Q Having owned two non-land cruiser toyotas, and 4 different land cruisers, two 80 series, one 100 series and a 200 series land cruiser I can tell you that your are sorely mistaken. Head gaskets were an issue of the 80 series not the 100 series. And every vehicle requires routine maintenance. The fit and finish of the LC is better than 90% of the cars on the market period.
