Perfect timing…. I’m a LWT 55 category, & doing the BRIC in 2 weeks 😮…. did your 7:00 row along last week…. & now hoping to go mid 6:50’s. Thanks Cam for continuing the great content. I saw your GB trials video last week & was gutted for you…. but if you ever need motivation on what you’ve achieved, think about how small rowing is (in comparison to other sports) in this country….& then look at how many subs you have…. It’s an incredible achievement.

Thanks for another great video, Cam. Great content, as usual! I’m newer to rowing and am pushing for a 7:00 goal over 2K. Have you had any experience rowing at altitude? I live at 1900m and wonder what effects I would see testing at lower elevation.

I’m impressed you can talk through this (okay, it’s a minute slower than your normal!). Unfortunately even with the advertising chucked in by KZbin, I’m massively the wrong side of 7 minutes (nearer to 8) - being an auld git doesn’t help! 😆 After the recent trials are you pushing on with your winter training and head racing? Ps: how is Yam?
@CameronBuchan

I tried to make sure the adverts wouldn't show up during the workout. I hope they didn't! I'm sure you can still get a solid workout in regardless of your age! Currently training away but not any particular date or goal in mind for the short term. A change for me! I'm sure some rings will pop up though. Yam is doing great thank you!

@CameronBuchan

If you feel that works for you that’s great. Eating higher puts a little bit more pressure on you cardio wise so maybe your strong but cardio could do with work? Could also be technique related!

Hey cam, what is your best advice for a year 9 kid trying to drop their 2k. Current is a 7:18 and trying to drop to 7:00 or below over winter season.
@CameronBuchan

Best thing for year 9 is just to get into training and have a program that has enough variation in it to keep them interested and consistent. I don't know if you'd be interested but I do write training programs. Let me know if you're interested

How many breathes per stroke do Iu go for like what breathing technique do u do because I get too tired at high ratings
@CameronBuchan
@CameronBuchan Ай бұрын
When I am pushing as hard as I can I will probably breath 2-3 times per stroke. Rating high doesn’t make you tired, tiredness comes from pushing harder. If you push the same at 20 spm and 30min it will be very difficult. Try holding a 2:30/500m at 20 spm and then 2:30/500m at a 30 spm. The strokes will feel much lighter at 30spm

compared to some recent footage of you on the water your back opens up a lot sooner on the machine...is that just due to getting a stronger catch in a boat whereas you're more likely to just rip it a bit more on the erg ?
@CameronBuchan

I don't really see the difference. Could be that or because it's very light pressure
@andyhall7032

@@CameronBuchanthanks I'm thinking perhaps of the following but in fairness it's clearly just slow warmup stuff but it has that classic "keep the angle of the back at the catch through the leg drive" kind of style which I think is a lot simpler when actually grabbing water as opposed to a c2 handle : kzbin.info/www/bejne/enbVdKKYibJsprM

Is training at a higher rate something you would advise? I do a lot of my training at 18-22 and switch my pace/distance. Should I look at higher rate pieces and not necessarily be concerned about the pace?
