I am an Oklahoma fan but man did Nebraska really screw up firing Frank solich they haven't been s*** every since and he wasn't doing that bad a job either it's hard to replace a legend like Tom Osborne but Frank solich was doing a good job Nebraska has been in the wilderness the last 20 years

The next huge mistake was leaving the Big 12. They were a national power in the Big 12, in the Big Ten they're just a small market team in a conference that doesn't care about them. They almost won the Big 12 the last season they were in it.

Yeah it was going to take a dip no matter who coached (even Osborne) cfb started changing with everyone on tv and stricter rules in the 2000’s.. much harder to Get better kids to Lincoln . Frank had issues but they could have worked Them out without firing Him but Peterson has his own plan .. sadly for nu .... Frank certainly knew the Osborne way to win at nu

I look back on this and laugh that Brent Musburger was so certain that it was going to be Oklahoma versus Nebraska in a rematch for the big 12 title. Nebraska then got blown out by Colorado and Oklahoma got upset by Oklahoma State so the title match ended up being Colorado versus Texas.

Watching these old 90s/early 2000s games really makes me appreciate how far long snapping has coming in the last decade. It used to be pretty hit or miss. I can't tell you the last time Nebraska had a bad snap on a punt or field goal. It's been years.

If Nebraska didn't lost to Colorado and made it to the Big XII Championship against Texas in 2001 I think that Nebraska would beat Miami in the 2002 Rose Bowl for a National Championship. Frank Solich would have a 1st National Championship.

I'm Husker Red through and through. The 2001 Big Red squad was a very strong team indeed. But that 2001 Miami Squad is probably ranked among the top 10 teams of all time. Or at least it ought to have strong consideration for being on that list. I've never liked the Canes, but you gotta be fair about this.
