Thanks dude. My girl has an 03 civic, and the power steering pump has leaked all over it and it is still functioning but the voltage output has dropped. Whenever we put a heavy load on the battery, like driving with the headlights on at night time, sometimes her batter will die. Now I am prepared to take it out and clean it. Thanks again dude.

How much does labor cost to replace an alternator on average?
@hondaresource Жыл бұрын
Each vehicle is different. This one, I would charge $150 labor plus the parts.

Thanks. My 2001 civic is runnin like a top now. I did the water pump and timing belt also successfully. Purring like a kitten with181k on it. It's still using a lot of antifreeze because the reservoir needs filled about every time i take it out for a day of errands. I see a couple of small puddles below when she's parked over night. It's not spraying it around or anything when she's running and No leaks at the hoses as far as I can tell and it doesn't look like there is oil mixed with the antifreeze in the puddles. I can't tell if the leak is coming from the radiator or further back toward the passenger side.I'm thinking that I have to take off those plastic under covers so I can see under there better. I don't have a lift rack or a hoist to make it easier to see unfortunately . Like i said ,It sounds and runs great now and the water pump repair and alternator replacement didnt cause the leak because it leaked there before. No engine light on and the temp gauge is normal. The radiator fan comes on. The alternator is charging the battery now. I just got that pesky leak and a slight antifreeze smell after I use it. Should I be worried? I'm a firm believer in the old addage: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

When the head gaskets on these go bad, it doesn't mix coolant and water, it just pressurizes the coolant system. Coolant leak could be coming from a couple different places

Hey all yall. I had multiple problems on my 2001 civic ex. The first was the alternator, that was easy to diagnose and fix. Next, my radiator was boiling over but the engine light wasn't on and the temperature gage was normal, so I checked the lower radiator hose to see if the thermostat would open and the hose stayed cold when the radiator started steam up and the temperature gage stayed normal so i was confused. I decided to get the thermostat and look at some videos. I found out that there is also the thermostat coolant sensor. So I got it too. They were both easy to install and it fixed the problem. I got by during the problem by turning the fan on in the car, full blast. This allowed me to keep the radiator cool and I could drive around to get the parts. This civic also has another temperature sensor on top of the engine block that could be defective also. I think this is why the temperature gage stayed normal while the thermostat wouldn't open. The car is working normally now but I'm still curious about why the temperature gage on the instrument panel didn't show high heat. P. S., My chevy s10 don't have but one sensor, I think and thank God my 2013 ain't got no problems yet. Whew! I'm glad yall know your stuff. 😊 my temp. gage

You don't have to take the top bolt all the way out. Just pull out as far as you can. But anyways I'm watching because when I replaced my alternator. It rubs the lower timing belt cover. Any tips?

I know. I had to take it out to repair the threads

I'm honestly not sure. It was brought to me on a rollback and I was told to replace the alternator. The customer supplied the alternator with the car when the car was delivered
