Excellent video! I'm an original owner of an '01 Bullitt and still love it today as much as I did when it was new. At just 63,000 miles, I've since made a few suspension mods and decided I wanted more horsepower, so I pulled the engine, stroked the block to a 5.0, added all forged internals, supercharged and ended up with 557rwhp. It's insanely fun to drive because it's so light and handles so well. I always felt they were a little underpowered, so I went all in on horsepower and so glad I did. It's the perfect car now.

It sound like an amazing Bullit. At 557 it should really move! I’m at 450 with my ported Eaton and should be up to about 550 when I upgrade to my 2.2 Kenne Bell. Thanks for watching!

Great video. Thanks for the mention. I think it’s interesting that the Mach 1 actually had the same side skirts in the pre-production photo shoots. The (spades) mud flap pieces included. I also think it’s interesting that it had the same shifter bezel ring you mentioned but not shifter bezel and the radio bezel silver color as the Mach 1‘s IUP. Thanks for making a good video about the BULLITT. I always trust your work and research. Some people do a hack job at telling the BULLITT history. Danny Johnson has also done a great job with a BULLITT video. You might see one from me too with some interesting things later on. Nice job.

Nice video Mike! Giving some attention to the Bullitt! I need to get another Bullitt video out as well last Bullitt specific video I did was 5 years ago when I first purchased my True Blue #4133. Now is a good time to talk about them since they are officially 20 years old and considered a classic car now. Thumbs up 👍

Great video. I just happened to stumble upon it today through suggested videos. You got almost all the differences correct, though the strut towers have a clear coat as opposed to the standard GT's. Minor and not always noticed lol. I love my 01 Bullitt with 45k original miles. All original other than the usual maintenence items such as belts, tires hoses, ect. #4149 DHG

I use to own #805 DHG Bullitt. It was in a wreck so when it was repaired I had Cobra parts put on it and it looks bad ass. Get the Terminator or Mach 1 4V 4.6L and drop it in and you are going to keep up with the "New Edge" all day if they are tuned right.

Correct me if I'm wrong I thought the 2001 bullet was a 16 valve motor but, but awesome video!!
@MikesGarageRoute662 жыл бұрын
Correct it is a 2 valve per cylinder engine or 16 valve. A lot of folks just refer to them as 2V and the 32v V8 as a 4 valve. Thank you very much for watching!

A lot of these details get forgotten overtime, thank you for posting to youtube, its like a time capsule. So future Bullitt owners can know what was the normal when they came out. 😁 If there arent any videos to stamp the information, New buyers wont know how to see If one is real without calling their local mustang Professional.

Thank you for the points on the 2001 Bullitt. I have the black one and I like the way it handles. 65,000 miles on it now. It also comes with a higher capacity water pump,,,same as the F-150. Are the 2008 and 2018 Bullitts have the 3/4 inch lower suspension?
@MikesGarageRoute663 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Phil. I’m not sure on the the newer Bullitts. They are all amazing vehicles, but my knowledge is somewhat limited to the new edge Mustangs. I am trying to learn more on the S550’s and the Coyote platform. Thank you again for watching!

Much Better "THAN". Then and Than are becoming misused at an alarming rate. They are not interchangeable, they are not even conjugates of each other. You might as well use THIN as well in place of than or then since words have now lost all meaning.

@@MikesGarageRoute66 It will definitely be a manual-transmission coupe. Ideally a Terminator, but good examples have gotten so very expensive that many of them are just outside my means financially (my budget is 20k max). I would describe my driving style as "spirited". I will not be taking it to the track.
@MikesGarageRoute662 жыл бұрын
@@OnePonyDriver I would go for the Mach 1 then. Search for one with very low miles. It will work out much better.

Its not all that here why its over look at the end of the day its a 2v l had two Mustang GT a 2000 and a 03 special education Mustang GT its hard to get HP with out a blower or turbo not so with the 4v...Great car the Bullet for Wt it is but not that much over a GT tho get a 99 to 01 Cobra you can get way more HP out its 4v than the 2v up to 400 + with the right mods if you can't find a Terminator....Like a lot of cars we have today that's 400 + HP with out the blower or turbo Great video tho
@MikesGarageRoute663 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Booker. I completely agree the DOHC can put out a lot more power NA. The 2V still is a decent engine. The key to get more power out of it is porting the heads, larger valves, adding cams, and using a better intake. That really wakes it up. But with 8psi of boost a 2V can safely get to 450hp. Currently I have a built 4V. If you have a chance check those videos out. Thank you very much for watching!

Springs, brakes, and 5 extra HP. That isn't impressive. It's an appearance package with a bit extra. I could easily make the same upgrades to my GT. I like the bullitt, but I wouldn't waste my money on one.
@MikesGarageRoute662 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching John. The GT and Bullitt are both very nice cars. I kind of thought the same way until I read Scott Hoags book on it. It really changed my opinion.

We never needed a Bullitt Mustang, I'm not sure why Ford built one from a movie that happened 30 years previous. The movie wasn't relevant and nobody gave a damn about it in 2001. Maybe Ford was embarrassed by the GT and was trying to make amends for it. At least the Mach 1 got some respectable power for the time period. That was the only go between they needed between the GT and the cobra. However, the Mustang has a history of having a plethora of models available, even if they don't make sense on any level other than Ford trying to distract us from their mistakes with the cobra.

From what I read it was getting towards the end of cycle on the SN95 platform with the New Edge so specialty cars like the Bullitt and Mach 1 were made to keep interest while the S-197 was being created and finalized. Little did they know the New Edge with a 4V would be seen as a much better vehicle than the S-197. What’s interesting is the Mach 1 almost got a 2V. But that’s another story.
@americanosbadassius92924 ай бұрын
@@MikesGarageRoute66 On the other side of the coin, the bullitt almost got a 4-valve. What you said makes sense and I have met a lot of people who are partial to the special editions, regardless of how much they do or don't offer. For the uninitiated, The S197 is a far better chassis than the SN95, it's just the engine that catches all the crap. For the period, though, a GT making 300 horsepower was pretty good, because it put it right in there with the n/a cobras and Mach 1, with just a 3-valve engine. If you used the go fast parts from the Ford catalog, you could easily get your GT to make 350 to 400 horsepower crank; CNC heads, Hot Rod cams, headers underdrive pulleys, CAI, etc and of course there was the supercharger they partnered with Whipple to develop that they came out with a couple of years later - it took them a minute. Both Roush and Saleen beat them to the punch when it came to the supercharger. I specifically saved up to get the early 5th gen Mustang, because of its retro styling and I was pretty happy with the power - even at 300 horsepower I could get the car sideways off of launch. I was much more impressed with the 08 Bullitt - Ford touted it as the engineers car and after they explained why, I have more respect for the 2001 car, because they had made similar upgrades to it as well.

I'm noticing car prices in general are starting to drop on the New Edge's. Even Cobras.
@americanosbadassius92924 ай бұрын
The two valve 01 Bullitt has a respectable has a reliable engine, but that's pretty much where it ends for this car. Bids and parts and parts and bits, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah - who cares, I guess you could add a supercharger and ring 400 HP out of it. The 01 Bullitt sucks now and it sucked when it came out. The 01 bullitt is what the GT should have been and it's just the manifestation of Ford correcting course. They gave it an extra five horsepower and slightly better handling? ... Oooooo, I'm thrilled. 😂 Any New Edge Mustang that isn't packing a 4 valve engine SUCKS! The only reason the four valves are so cool, is because you can add mad power to them, so they can become respectable. Same goes for the three valve engine, but at least it was on a new chassis with much better styling. Your videos okay, it's just the car that sucks. One caveat - I'd still drive this over a lot of imports, even much more powerful ones. When you're a Mustang fan you're a Mustang fan!
