2001 F250 w/V10 Engine, Episode 3: Fuel Tank & Fuel Pump Removal

I got the fuel tank off, and pulled the old pump. Time to get the new one thrown in.

No need to remove the tank. I just cut a hole in the bed with a sawzall in a few minutes, pulled the pump and replaced in another 5 minutes, simple and quick on an old truck

why wouldn't you remove the unhinged side of the braces? then they would just flip out of the way.

I felt that removing the hinged side was easier, that way I could access everything from one side. Also, if we're being honest, I didn't realize I took them off backwards until I had the tank out.

What psi increase are you seeing after replacing

Honestly, I don't know, since I never checked it before replacing. The pump would either not run, or sound really weak when I turned the key to the "run" position. So, it was pretty clear from that evidence alone that the pump was bad. (plus, all the wiring was fine, fuses were good, etc.) These engines should have around 30psi or so of fuel pressure when everything is working right. May be less if it's not running, may be more when it is. I don't remember the exact spec at the moment.

Thanks mine checked while driving is 35 low idles fine until it warms up and starts to miss than fine until about 45-55 has large misses feeling like shuddering have you had this ?

@@boydbelgarde1827 Yeah, I've had a similar problem. If your fuel pressure is fine, then it's probably a spark plug/ignition coil, or a fuel injector. Check your connectors on all those, my issue was #8 coil not being plugged in all the way. If you start getting shuddering around 45-55 mph, that sounds like your engine isn't getting power, cause it's not revving enough. Mine would do the same thing, and kinda lug at 1500 rpm in 3rd gear. Also be sure to check your fuel and air filter. I know that sounds silly, but sometimes they are dirtier than they appear. Proper oil level also makes a difference, though not as much. Same with transmission fluid. EDIT: Could also be a small vacuum leak, I had issues with those
