There's a lot of negative comments and some of them are right about reading the manual But one thing that was completely missed is that truck is a 7.3 diesel and the GB70 is meant for starting 8 litre Gas trucks and 6.0 litre Diesels, Not 7.3 L diesels that's where you need the GB150 which goes up to 10 Litre Gas or Diesels. based on these facts I did not expect any of them to start that 7.3.

That's even without pressing the override button. Never even gave it a thought about needing to press the override button. Hook it up, press the power button, wait for the white light to turn on, you have 60 seconds to turn the key, turn the key to start and Bam. No hesitation. Starts right up.

You don't know how to use the device. The Noco GB 70 have a override button (red) exactly below the HD word on the front. It's send pure 12V corrient that starts that 7.3 powerstroke engine without battery 5 times. I did several times in same engine. Read user manual before do a wrong review of a product. The Noco GB 70 is the father of that's 2 others, but you need to know how to use it.

Before using the Manual Override feature, make sure the HD battery clamps are connected to the correct polarity battery terminals. To use the Manual Override feature, press and hold the Manual Override Button (a red exclamation point icon inside a red circle) for three (3) seconds. The White Boost LED will flash “On” and “Off” indicating you have successfully entered into Manual Override and it is ready to jump start your vehicle. If connected in reverse polarity, the Red Error LED will illuminate and the unit will not operate. I say give the Noco another chance it just might have a little extra to it.

The ability to start an engine depends on the CCA rating. Your truck batteries are each rated at about 730 CCA. There is no correlation between peak amperage and CCA. Lithium batteries cannot be rated by CCA as they will not survive the GCI test - they will fry.
@ShogunnxYT4 жыл бұрын
Im surprised here. I have a Jumtop which claims to have 2500peak and 1200 at crank. I see no reviews on it tho. I also got the Audew , mainly bcuz every review ive seen for Audew shows it kicking everything else arse. I also have the GB40, which is magic, for a few seconds. What's interesting is i have several shops who have the GB70 and compared to its size and build quality, it really doesnt FEEL as powerful. You could hold down the red button for a while and that will it force it to power on HOWEVER im not sure if that wouldve done much difference here. From all the ones ive used, the Noco isnt limiting how much power its using, its just smart enough to know a battery isnt connected, so it doesnt turn on the power. In the video, he was able to trick it to turn on, so that SHOULDVE been it. And when he took off the battery the lights on the GB70 were still scrolling, so it was still powering. And since the truck was able to even ATTEMPT to crank , with no batteries means it was the GB70 using its power. I dont know if this is another impressive feat for the Audew or a negative for the GB70. Also , most of the Audews that look like that one are actually 2000 amp peak with only 500 amp start. I begin to learn where these folks manipulate the wording. According to Noco, the GB40 delivers a whopping 1000amps "within seconds" of powering on. This wording SHOULD place it above everything here except the GB40. However, in most reviews the gb40 cant cut it, so i doubt its using 1000 amps. sorry for the rant, good video

The 7.3 "wait to start" light is the major cause of cold start failure on these models. The light goes out at around 8 or 10 seconds, if you listen closely you can hear the glow plug relay continues to run for another 15 seconds and clicks off. It sounds like an electric fuel pump running. Best fix? Turn on ignition, wait 30 seconds, start. Square biz.

@chargermopar5 жыл бұрын
The jump starter I use when my 7.3 needs a jump is a 4KW portable generator with a 200 amp 12Vdc power supply. The engine shuts off when the voltage is low on the batteries because the alternator output has a lot of ripple which increases with load. The battery acts as a filter and a rippled voltage confuses the computer, causing the engine to shut down. I have had this happen with the Powerstokes, but it cannot happen with the IDI engines. They can run with almost no battery as long as the fuel solenoid stays energized.

The reason that the noco didn’t start the truck is because it doesn’t go above exactly 12 volts. It does actually have more amperage as advertised and 2000 amps is plenty to start the 7.3 but unlike the other two you tested, the noco doesn’t go above 12 volts. The other two probably have more voltage. If you had only 400 amps going to the engine, it would be plenty enough amperage as long as you had like 18 or more volts. My point is that the noco has the amperage it advertises but it doesn’t give out as much voltage so it is a good product. Also I have seen this same noco start that same truck in other videos. Other than that it was a good video.

@TheFordf350superduty6 жыл бұрын
Hi great vid as always👍. The reason it stalls when the battery is disconnected basically the pcm regulates the voltage from the alternator and the alternator only keeps the batteries charged but can't keep up without a battery because of the idm takes 14v and converts it to 240v to fire the injector cylinoids and if the glow plugs are on and working the battery voltage at idle should be 11.9 to 13.1 depending on if it is a single or dual alternator setup and the glow plugs stay on up to 2 mins even after the wait to start light goes out
@FixItNick6 жыл бұрын
But what if the battery was like 90% dead and got jumped it would still run you think?
@TheFordf350superduty6 жыл бұрын
@@FixItNick yes it should because there isn't a sudden voltage drop like when you pull the terminals off of the battery and now that I think about it ford may have put a failsafe in so if a sudden voltage drop is detected it will shut down because if the idm is run on to low of a voltage it will burn up the electronic board
@kristophertrout73284 жыл бұрын
Computer ECU protection is why it shut off. Many alternators are computer controlled so if you disconnect it from your battery it will shut down to prevent damage to the ECU.
@onefixitman4 жыл бұрын
Not true. He loses excitation voltage to the alternator and it lost the excitation field, therefore no voltage generation. In turn the injectors require 10.8 volts to fire so they shut down and it kills the engine.

@@FixItNick I would test to see what the actual peak amps there pushing at 3000 peak amps would be around 680 cranking amps
@TheAzimvs4 жыл бұрын
Alternator is not producing enough juice(amp) to keep powering the car. Or you have disconnected the battery too quick. Make sure let it run for a bit longer like a minute or so(depends on the car manufacturers). I hope it explains the alternator problem

I'd avoid the Lead acid jumper. Lead acid batteries don't like being sat around doing nothing for long periods, the batteries sulphate and die. If you're a recovery driver, they're great. If not, get the Lithium cell type.

7.3 take 2 min sometimes to start charging. depend on condition.

Gb70 is rated for 6.0diesel and need to activate boost button. It's, a very good booster . It works if you do what it's meant to do

The NOCO jumpers are a scam. Project Farm just did a comparison of like 8 different jump starters, the NOCO wasn’t able to start and had the worst amps out of any he tested.

The JNC Air doesn't have a battery in it. That's why it did nothing. For it to work, it has to actually be connected to the battery.

Great comperison, halpfull video. I almost purchased noco. Glad i didn't. Thanks.
@scubicon19656 жыл бұрын
The Noco is amazing. This is a case of the user not knowing how it works. The NOCO all have boost mode and this KZbinr didn't read the manual on how to engage it before he made the video. A bad decision on his part. I can tell you that I have boosted large displacement diesels, when the engine block is cold (in Canada). No problem. Look at the dozens of other NOCO KZbin videos. They are real.
@FixItNick6 жыл бұрын
Well it can’t start a 7.3 obviously, not being aware of the boost button sure, but AUDEW cranked 7.3 better than the Noco
@FixItNick6 жыл бұрын
It’s still a great jumper, but I’d rather have 2 AUDEW jumpers for the price of one Noco.
@thecoverup1775 жыл бұрын
I agree, I have a noco and this one was used improperly. It would have started up no problem

Josh Johnson nope, boost button does give more power it just activates the jumper if there is no battery power at all. In fact I tried it with boost button later and it did same amount of turns

The shorter the leads you can get away with is best becouse of voltage drop over longer lengths

The GB70 isn’t designed to jump a 7.3L diesel. You need the GB 150 or higher. Also, it does have a boost feature. Read the instructions.

Jnc air is a good jumper, but the air compressor is trash, literally. It broke after airing up 1 tire. I sent it back under warranty, and the brand new one died after 1 tire also.

The big semi truck engines are around 15 litter. So if the 2000amp noco can not tlstart a 7.3 ford diesel, it's fair to asume that the biggest noco which is 4000amp will not start a big rig 18 wheeler engine
@l3eaver5 жыл бұрын
You need to press the big RED “!” Button to boost with the Noco GB70
@FixItNick5 жыл бұрын
Yup but boost does really provide more power it simply activates power to the clamps if there is no power from battery

Peak amp doesn't say anything... It never comes close to that. The actual cranking/starting amps is the important spec.

The fuel shut down solenoid activates when there is no power supplied to the vehicle by battery. That's why the engine died with the 73 diesel engines, as well as with other diesels you must have power from the battery to keep the fuel shut down solenoid valve open.

“Actual Amps” is always about half of what the “Peak Amp” rating is.. Peak Amps is just marketing.. For the record - the compression in a 7.3 powerstroke is like 17.5 to 1.. hence the dual battery setup to begin with. They also need to hit a min rpm I believe and oil pressure on the high pressure oil system for the injectors to even be “allowed” to start.
@FixItNick5 жыл бұрын
Haha I tried to find boost button in manual but missed it, after the video I did find boost button instructions and tried jumping the truck again and boost button had no improvement. The reason for the boost button is to provide power to the truck when there is 0 volts present.
@SalivatingSteve5 жыл бұрын
FixItNick the truth is that none of the lithium jumpers can actually deliver 1000 amps because the cables are not thick enough. The most they can deliver is about 350 amps in the real world.
@jjmmcc014 жыл бұрын
Hi FixitNick, you are correct the jumper units electronics require some voltage from the battery to determine the polarity of the connection to the battery. The boost function ignores battery polarity .

that audew would have been enough to start that engine, even a dead batter will have 12 volts , but you have to have a constant 12 volts at all times your also supplying not only power to the ecm but the coil and all the other electricals
@joejohnson24782 жыл бұрын
The Audew comes in 2000amp size and it is in my opinion that had you used that one the engine would have turned over!

@FixItNick2 жыл бұрын
But can it do it without any batteries connected?
@joshbigman17456 жыл бұрын
Maybe the alternator does not provide enough Amps on its own?
@FixItNick6 жыл бұрын
Alternators provide volts to charge the batteries a over 14 volts it’s where it should be to charge batteries while driving, but I think it’s because I broke the circuit engine wasn’t getting power from alternator
@ВасилийВасильев-э9н6 жыл бұрын
I think maybe at the time of disconnection there was a jump voltage above 16 volts and triggered the shutdown of electronics. In the future, it is better to turn on the lights and heater to smooth the voltage surges when the battery is turned off. (Sorry for my english)
