7.3 good engine but I have occasionally towed 20 k gooseneck with a 5.4,I don't know why diesels get so much credit.

Powerstroke has twice the Torque of a Triton,it will move alot more at ease once the throttle is punched.The 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10 can be slugs if you got alot of weight behind you,also depends on what Gears you have (3.73-4.56).The 7.3L however isn't as much as 6.0L on Power,but I highly prefer the 5.4L,6.8L,or 7.3L over the 6.0L as a Stock Engine.As a Gas Truck,the V10 was more appropriate for the F-250,F-350,and Excursions if you wanted to pull anything easier,espiecally around hills.Both the V8 and V10 can handle 14,000-15,700 lbs fairly easily,even more.The 5.4L in the F-150 and Expedition/Explorer compared to the 4.6L could overkill on what to carry.The 5.4L in a F-150 can do 8,800-12,000 lbs if you want to see what it can do.The little 4.6L wasn't really rated for over 5,500 lbs.

The 6.8l v10 is a much better engine overall than the 5.4l. and I have owned both. Same engine just 2 more cylinders and alot more power.
@Slim_Slid
@Slim_Slid 4 жыл бұрын
5.4L is 260 HP and 6.8L is 300 HP.Not even alot more power,the V8 gets 300 lbs of Torque and the V10 only gets 325 lbs of Torque.The V10 was just more appropriate in the F-250,F-350,and Excursions if you wanted to pull something around alot of hills and depending on what Gears you have.Both the V8 and V10 roughly can be capable of 15,700-20,000 lbs in the right Truck.The 6.8L was literally soley based on the 5.4L,it was a alternation of it.I've seen 5.4L's with as much as 580,000 Miles on them,never seen a V10 do that,the V10 wasn't as durable as the V8.

@@Slim_Slid as far as durability and the amount of miles one could have would depend on maintenance and how the vehicle was worked, so that's less relevant. And as far as power numbers go there is a notable difference in pulling power when towing anything over 8000 lbs with the v10. I've owned both.

@@Powerman2417 A F-150 with a 5.4L does 8,800 lbs with no issue.A F-250 with a 5.4L/6.8L does 12,500 lbs,and then the F-350 with the V8/V10 can do as high as 20,000 lbs,already mentioned that.This accounts regardless if you are running 3.73-4.56 Gears.The V10 acts like a slug but a V8 under that much weight compared the 6.8L will behave like a snail getting up to speed or driving on a grade.My 2002 5.4L F-150 does 8,800 lbs with no issue,I've seen owners do as much as 10,000 lbs and the Truck still does the job fine.I had a 2003 5.4L F-350 with 297,000 Miles on it and I hauled 14,000 lbs with it on 4.10 Gears which isn't even a stretch for the V8,it was slow as it will be,but these Trucks aren't meant for high speeds,and I still did the job,surely the V10 and obviously the Powerstroke would do it much quicker,but the 5.4L still completed the mission.The V10 still isn't as durable as the V8,the 2 Valve V8 overall was the better Engine for the highest Mileage possible but didn't have as much of Torque like the 2 Valve V10 of course,but there is only a 25 difference in the lbs of Torque and a 40 difference in the HP.If it was twice that,it would be noted to be said.Both Engines about equally can do the job.

@@Slim_Slid both Motors will tow what they were designed for and more without issues. Obviously neither one are race horses because that's not what the motors were designed for. Comparing the ability of a 5.4 l in an F-150 versus an F-350 isnt really relevant since there was not options for the v10 in an f150. Numbers on paper would point to a closer comparison but in the real world power-wise the V10 wins and that's not even a debate. Its facts. Surely the 5.4 l has the potential to be more reliable due to less moving parts. At the end of the day the 5.4 L would work for most people but anyone towing heavy on a daily basis would be better suited going with the 6.8 liter V10 or diesel for that matter. Also it's nice to see someone defending the 5.4 with all of the hatred people give it, (mostly chevy people) lol. I've owned both and loved both equally! Not sure how I got back on this when I posted it so long ago but I'm currently enjoying my 5.0 coyote and 7.3 Powerstroke powered pickups.

@@Powerman2417 I referred the F-150 because the 5.4L was in the F-150,Expedition/Explorer,F-250,F-350,and Excursion.The F-250,F-350,and Excursions had the 6.8L but you already know that.I wasn't actually comparing the Trucks itself,I was just talking about the difference with the 5.4L in all of them at least.The V8 and V10 are durable Engines,I just trust the 5.4L alot more for as much Mileage as it possibly can do,espiecally the 2 Valve.We can both agree that for 1997-2004,the 5.4L,6.8L,& 7.3L are all much better than the 6.0L that came out in 2003.It doesn't really matter to me whether it is Gas/Diesel and has the 5.4L/6.8L,I just really like the V8 but if I have to pull heavy and deal with some hills,I'm choosing a V10 without a doubt if it is not a 7.3L.I love my Powerstrokes too.I have a 7.3L F-350 with over 640,000 Miles on it and I do also love the og 6.9L/7.3L IDI's even though they make lower Torque on them.The 7.3L is the best one out of all the Powerstrokes,the 6.0L makes more Power than a 7.3L and they can be easier to work on,but a 6.0L with a Tune and having to be 'bulletproof' makes them reliable.A Stock 6.0L is a horrible Engine,and it doesn't get better what comes after all of these.Speaking on the Triton,that includes the 3 Valve,4 Valve,and 5 Valve.The 2 Valve is always going to be my choice. I don't have a Coyote but I have a 302 in a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500.Long live the 5.0L.

Ejected spark plugs from small threads in the cylinder head, and potential timing chain slack, other than that, it's a fantastic motor, and better than the newer 5.4 3v motor in my opinion.

The 5.4L is basically the best Gas Engine for all the Ford Trucks from 1997-2004,and everyone knows that the 7.3L Powerstroke is basically bulletproof.I really prefer those two if I want to get a Ford Truck.I was never a fan of the 3 Valve at all.The 6.8L V10 that was in the F-250,F-350,and Excursions has more Torque and pulls the same amount of weight at more ease but they are just not as durable as the 5.4L V8,after all the V10 was based on the V8.The 2 Valves are durable as hell.The 6.0L that came out starting in 2003 is reliable if it gets a Tune and becomes 'bulletproof' but the 7.3L is good as it comes without doing anything to it,even though the 6.0L has more Power.The 4.6L in the F-150 and Expedition/Explorer is literally just as solid as the 5.4L also,but they aren't as rated on load as a 5.4L in a F-150.I can do 8,800 lbs with my 2002 5.4L F-150 Lariat very easily,but the 4.6L starts to struggle with more than 5,500 lbs.

ok well I watched this bc I had a f350 duelly with a 7.3 a few years ago and yesterday I traded my f150 for a 06 f250 with a 5.4. I'm normally a diesel man when it comes to work pickups but I got a good deal on a very clean truck. I'm a little worried about the lack of torque on the gas motor compared to my 7.3 but either way I have up graded from the f150 for sure last time I pulled my 9000 lb camper with the 150 it was a harry ride and didn't have proper stopping power. the guy in the video keeps saying the 2valve 5 4 is better than the 3valve. he claimed the 2valve was more torque. think he said 260 to and 300flb of torque after I bought mine I looked up power and think it was somewhere between 300 and 310 to and like 375 on the torque so not sure bout that 2valve being more torque claim. in any event the 6.0 as crappy and unreliable as it was had 325 to and like 6 something on the torque don't remember the exact number now but it definitely blew the gas away on torque. oh well I will get the good out of the 5.4 and when it shits get a bell housing adaptor and throw a 12 valve cummins in it and go back to diesel. best of both worlds my favorite body style truck and my favorite diesel motor. I'm a truck driver and the Cummins is basically a mini big truck motor.

The 2 Valve 5.4L is 260 HP/300 lbs of Torque and then the 2 Valve 6.8L is 300 HP/325 lbs of Torque.The 7.3L is 250-300 HP/525-600 lbs of Torque.The 2 Valve from 1997-2004 are the best Tritons hands down,all of the 4.6L,5.4L,and 6.8L.The V10 however wasn't as good as the V8's though.My 2002 5.4L F-150 Lariat can do 8,800-12,000 lbs even though that's kind of a stretch for one of those.The 4.6L starts to give out with over 5,500 lbs.The F-250 regardless if Triton or Powerstroke is meant for 12,500 lbs and so is the Excursion if I'm not wrong,and then the F-350 can do 14,000-15,700 lbs even though they can still handle all the way to 20,000 lbs.The 6.0L Powerstroke with a Tune and being 'bulletproof' is actually reliable,but they are horrible being Stock.The 7.3L is still the most durable out of all Powerstrokes.
