2001 Ranger XLT Review

I have a similar 01 with the 4.0 sohc. My father had it since 03. Lots of fixes over the years but manageable. Never had any hint of a problem getting parts. I joke that autozone could build most of a ranger engine from stuff they already have on the shelves. 246,000 and still a daily runner. I just found a rare stepside camper shell for it that's in good shape. Also, the Ford dealer in my town had an absolute field day in the 90's and early 2000's. I see at least 4-5 different, old rangers every time i need to cross town.

Absolutely! With how many Rangers are out there, also ones running as modified baja trucks, I don't know why people are so bananas about the Tacoma's.

I'm inheriting a 2001 v6 Ranger w 175000 miles it drives like a boat cause my uncle never maintained it except oil changes. I want to keep it for driving to home depot is all no everyday stuff. But the transmission slips when cold do you recommend leaving it alone since I'll only drive it 1000 miles a year or should I do a nice fluid flush and change? Nice video just ur music is too loud 👍

Yes, the first thing is to change the fluid, but do not take it to a shop for a "flush". Why? Because the shops often use a "universal" fluid type, this is a bad idea. Drain it and refill with the exact Ford Mercon fluid spec. If it has a transmission filter do that at the same time.

I had 1991 Ranger 2wd it rode so much more plush with the old style twin i beam. than my 2011 2wd Ford Ranger. it's harsh and "choppy"
