2001 Toyota Camry Front brakes replacement

Hey buddy, great vid. short and easy. Me 58 know some mechanic work from years ago. 2000 Camry original owner. Will NEVER give up my pony! Most people don't know about these tanks as mechanics call them. 2600 lbs. of towing power. Now old and haven't done this in years. Bad pads, yes some slight wear on one rotor. no money. $300 quoted by everybody even the cheaper ones. Used 30 dollar pads only, 1 c clamp, 1 14 mm wrench. Used old cast iron pot as jack stand, Hah! Pad slapped and my pony had new shoes. I only forgot the little springs on pass side, so clicks for now, will see if it seats.Took even me only 45 minutes. same tools as changing tire. Don't forget chocks, (rocks). Thank you very much for making me feel like a rock star again! I hope you and yours all the very best this world has to offer.

I have to change my brakes on my car with my fiancé’s help who has very little patience even when it comes to things I don’t know and was never taught since I didn’t have a dad growing up and my mom didn’t do any of her own maintenance. So this video will definitely help me out so I know a little when my fiancé goes to show me

Bro, I had same experience with the pad shims. The ones that came with pads from Autozone didn’t work but if you buy them separately they are the correct ones.

The calipers (and rotors) are undersized on that generation of Camry. The front calipers and rotors should've been larger dual piston. There's a video where a guy used 2006 ES330 calipers/pads which are larger.

good job man but you shouldve put some anti size on those caliper slides before u tighten the caliper back down

I noticed when trying to buy the break pads they have 14 inch and 15 inch. Do you know which it is for a car in America?

Both are fit on American car the most common on American car are 15 inches. If you have American vehicle its the recommend to use 15 inches

For those who don't like to deal with the piston the hard way, use one of your old pads in between the clamp and the piston and it won't slide around and make things more difficult for you. Also, after you have everything back together, get inside the car and push the brake pedal until it gets tight. It pushes the piston back up against the pad so, you're not having to do it while trying to actually brake. It will also immediately tell you if the system is retaining pressure. That way, if you thought it was the pads and it never gets tight, you know there's another issue somewhere else before you get back on the road.
