Here is one interesting tid bit not many people know about the C5 corvette. The illumination of the instrument panel is by black lights that are located behind the DIC buttons. I installed some aluminum bezels around the instrument panels and the brushed aluminum actually reflects a light purple from the black lights. It is truly a unique feature of this car.

Black on black baby!!! I personally perfer the targa top, but a vert for the right price is doable as long as i dont live in a bad area or near one

Well done. As someone who grew up with convertibles and has owned many, my C5 ragtop is one of my favorites. A couple of comments; the one you reviewed had most of the options that were available, including that pricey 12-disk changer and the selective ride control. White C5s are also fairly rare, I believe. The C5 convertible is my favorite of the modern Corvettes, which is why I bought one!

Just bought a silver 2002 convertible in Dallas yesterday. But I like shifting, so I got a 6 speed. 28k miles. My second one. My first was a red 2003 coupe with 6 speed. C5s are very nice cars.

Did u finance it or pay cash. How much did u pay if u don't mind me asking. Im currently looking for a C4 around the 10k mark $$$

I paid cash. But 2002 is C5. You should be able to find a C4 for 10k.

Great video, but I do have to disagree with your take on the handling of the C5 Corvette. That is one of the things they are famous for. I can say my 03 is fantastic in the twisties.

I never was a convertible guy. I inherited one in May (2004 Lexus SC430 pebble beach edition under 22k miles, mint condition). I'm in sunny southern California. I love the sun, but to be honest I enjoy driving with the top down when it's overcast more. The sun beaming can get annoying.

Much heavier the convertible is...due to the reinforcements throughout the sides. I have a 98 convertible with the 6spd manual and she still gets!!

A car like this should have a 5-speed or 6-speed auto, if not a manual…this wasn’t much to ask back in the mid/late 90s

It was a lot to ask, the jap cars were the only ones that had a 5spd auto, without going exotic. Also those 5spd auto's could barely handle 250lb tq. Let alone 350+ Chevy would have had to create an all new transmission, which would have made the price go up when the time was not right.

I have a 02 C5 6 sp manual convertible black on black that came with eh window sticker. The auto was included in the price but the manual was an 1800 dollar option in Canada here. Just looking at the nproduction numbers I believe only 11% of 02 corvettes were manual probably because of price. When looking for a C5 up here to find a manual is a chore, probably 5 auto’s to 1 manual for sale which makes them expensive here.

Ummm. C6 grand sport will carve the shit out of a canyon, and its not a z06, this car will out perform 95% of any stock, non supercars produced by any company unmoddified even up to 2024 standards. Back to the c6 grand sport and that statistic probably jumps to 99.1% also a few thousand in modifications in this will outperform supercars, and do it while being as reliable as a Toyota Corolla. What other i.c.e vehicle from 20 years ago can get almost 30 mi to the gallon on the highway, snap 60 in 5 seconds flat, and drop panties and less than that!!! ;)
