2002 Firebird Koni STR.T Shocks + Strano Lowering Springs Review

this video was requested by a viewer. These are my impressions after maybe 500 miles on the koni/strano suspension setup.

We love to buy done of these. I had a 1999 SLP SS in NBM, t top, Hurst 6 speed. Absolutely mint. GMMG exhaust..wife made me sell it for a new basement. Now shopping for a formula firehawk

Same here, 00 ws6 strano springs/koni strt, almost 2 years, no complaints. Handles superb.

i have since changed to koni sports in the rear and it was a noticeable improvement. my fronts are still strt though. the sport fronts are insanely expensive

How have they held up through the last few years? Would you go with the same setup again for the money? Trying to figure if the UMI or strano are lower or if I’ll have trouble rubbing with my c5 wheels on just 275s. Have the umi adjustable panhard ready for whatever I choose.

if i could do it again, id go with the non adjustable bilsteins (b6 i believe), and the same springs. Or I would do Koni yellows (more expensive) with the same springs I now run Koni yellows on the rear of the car (got a good deal) and its a noticeable improvement. The front is still STRT. So if you are on a budget, these springs are great. However, for shocks I would recommend bilsteins. If you have more to spend, go with Koni Yellows.

Those look nice I'm thinking about their kit with the springs shocks and sway bars to replace my about 12yr old and way worn-out bilstine eibach setup do you still recommend these

the STRTs are ok. the yellows are much better

Bought the same setup but haven’t installed. I got 295/35r18 tires in the back. I’m worried about clearance for when I add long tube headers. Did you readjust your rear end ? Pan hard bar ?

yes, adjustable panhard bar needed. My rear end was about 1in off center with the stock panhard bar

Bird looks great! Does your car have the performance package? I noticed the factory v8 exhaust tips. And check out oe wheels for nice wheel and tire packages.

yes it is a y87 pack car. I removed the original dual tip muffler and put on the spintech muffler from my trans am, hence the trans am tips.

sure handling is better but how is the ride quality?

not as good as stock obviously, but with the stock sway bars the ride is pretty reasonable. With 35/22 solid sway bars and poly bushings, the ride gets quite a bit less comfortable
