2002 GMC Yukon 2500. 8.1 vortec. Overlanding/camper hauler update.

I have an 03 Silverado 1500HD 6.0 3.73 pickup that will be handed down to my son. Has 336k untouched motor, trans and diff other than fluid, filter changes water pump and what not. Gets 10-11mpg city or highway and 9-10 pulling pending on weight. Had a situation come up when our 5th gen was getting put on a diet where we needed to haul the horses. Was around 8klbs with trailer and 2 horses and it did better than I expected but trying to maintain 65-70 in the hills, you're spot on... it's not diesel but it got the job done and has been a fantastic pickup my son will enjoy for years to come.

I have a 2006 Yukon XL 2500 with a 8.1 People talk about fuel mileage. I don't, I do not care. It moves,it tows,it does everything that I asks of it.

Had an 06 3500 with 8.1 and driving around city was 10-12. Towing was 6-8 no matter what. It was a fleet vehicle but it was what it was but it would beat up on mustangs and everything else back then. Had an Allison trans which was great- oil filter housing leaked, no prob after that
