Ya, the 01M wasn't great. But it was a lot better than the 096 before it - those sometimes had trouble making it to 50k miles! From what I hear the 01M and 096 are why VW stopped the 10/100 powertrain warranty.

02j and 02m owner here. Auto trans is not the way on this generation of vw.

I own a 2002 Golf (2.0, automatic transmission). I've not had issues with my transmission, except for one time when it wasn't shifting right. Topped up the transmission fluid and the issue was solved. I guess I'm lucky.

@@damilolaakanni stay on top the maintenance and they can certainly last longer, the tiptronic trans on these mk4s just weren’t the best.

@@tiko4621 I don't have the tiptronic transmission. That was the 1.8T and the GTi. Mine is the regular 4 speed automatic transmission.

I had this car. Loved it till the very end. My brother totaled it. The engine was bulletprooof, but the transmission was junk and had to be replaced at 75,000. Interior quality was nice when brand new, but after 120k, it peeled like a tangerine. For what it was, it was a step up from Honda/Toyota but a little brother to Audi. Miss those days 😢

I actually won a brand new 2002 Jetta VR6. Compared to my 2000 Camry I thought it felt like a poor man's BMW with Chris paneling and handsome styling. Unfortunately after watching this video If I had taken notes the God damn thing broke down before the ink would have dried. I literally met Matt the guy I ended up marrying in the waiting room at the VW dealership. He had a Passat that was constantly in need of repair as well. After 9 months I just got rid of the car. Air conditioning, transmission, power sunroof three times, driver side power window, keyless entry,

@@marcoenrique8309 I do recommend Jettas. I still have 2 Jettas now and one of them has a nice turbo charged engine. The problems you might have with them are pretty mild. One downside to them is the low oil tank which could get damaged easily, so you have to be extra careful at ramps and speed humps.

Jettas were all the time exported to States. In Europe this car was temporary held - upon 3rd generation. States ones were much more better equipped.

3rd generation (1993-1998) was sold as the Vento, and the 4th generation (1999-2004) was sold as the Bora.

Here's what I wanna know if anyone knows the answer please share xD; basically I wanna know did the mk4 jettas come in a trim level with the arm rest in the middle on the back seats, was that an option?

I think it was available on the 4Motion GLX in Europe. Never in the US.

@@compu85 mine has backseat middle arm rest, ist a Bora 1.6 special (sport seats) though I'm not sure, but think, the base model had it too
