The bullet wasn’t a military bike, it was a road bike. Royal Enfield made guns for the army hence the slogan “built like a gun” The bullet name derives from that.. but they were purely built as road machines. The Indian police force ordered 800 of the 350 models...and they were licensed built in Madras India Madrid is in Spain

it was though. RE made bullets for britain and russia during the war. India later ordered a lot of those after independence. They also made bikes that were designed to drop out of planes to be used in war

It is a right foot gear change, one up three down, four speed gearbox straight from the factory, like all the classic British bikes. it has a very useful feature, a second lever on the gearbox, a 'neutral finder' just behind the main lever, push it with your heel and it changes the bike into neutral from and gear, you can come to a halt in any gear and just press the neutral lever. RE changed to a 5 speed left hand in 2006 if l remember correctly......

It's a great bike. I own a small collection of them. I have to say that the history of RE that you state in this video is way way off. So much of what you said is wrong I don't even know where to start. Please do some more research!
