2002 Silverado 2500HD 6.0 - Carven R Series Exhaust

Small clips of the Carven R on the 2500. Rev up and some hard accelerations.
Not getting any drone in the cab and it’s fairly mellow at low rpm’s. I’ll do some videos of cruising speeds and towing soon.

Thanks! I’m thinking of changing it up soon, planning on running 2 carven R series and either doing dual dumped, or possibly dual out behind the rear tire. Once I do it I’ll post an update.

Thanks! I did not get this y pipe online, I had the muffler shop that installed it for me make me the y pipe. Recently I noticed that Black Widow offers a Y-pipe on their site. Been thinking about trying out one of their mufflers lately so if I do I will most likely be switching to their Y-pipe. Gonna see what it sounds like with some shorty headers and this set up though, I’ll post a video of it soon. I’ll do a walk around of the truck when I post another video after I install the shorty headers!

@@OronasGarage Cool I’ll have to check them out. I’m thinking of doing two cravens since my stock exhaust is 2 in 2 out to 1 tail pipe. You think 2 of these will be to loud ?

@@macmade4953 hmmmm I’m not sure, that was my original plan as well cause I have the same piping. I noticed that with the single carven it’s very mellow especially because I have stock manifolds and stock cats. I think you’ll be fine with the two carvens. Are you going to do a dump or dual exhaust out behind the tires?

How’s the drone. I’m cammed with no cats 7 different mufflers but can’t seem to get rid of the drone

So daily driving at low speed and low rpm there’s no drone and cruising around 70-80mph there’s basically no drone either. I have also towed with a 30ft travel trailer and had the bed loaded up, pulling a hill at 50-60mph I had very minimal drone, so little that the radio covered the drone. However I also have stock manifolds and I do have my cats still. I also have my exhaust exit behind the passenger wheel so I’ve heard that dumping the exhaust under the bed will make it somewhat “drony”. Not sure how true that is or isn’t but hopefully it helps!

What bulbs are you running for headlights and fog lights?

For the headlight bulbs I’m running an LED bulb that I found on Amazon and the company is called Trueland. The fogs were also LED but the brand I bought only lasted about 2 months before flickering really bad then going dim and not working. The headlight bulbs have held strong for about almost a year and a half now. I used this brand on a suburban I had before and had them for two years in that suburban and they never gave me any issues

The plan is a cam, then eventually to add a supercharger.

that's a good route too. The turbo is a lot cheaper and just exhaust gases better MPG, the supercharger puts more stress on the internals and worse MPG.@@OronasGarage

Yes this has the factory cats and also factory exhaust manifolds.

@@ej1025 that’s exactly what I did, pretty much took the idea of the Ram but flipped the y-pipe. The 03-07 Denali also have a similar factory exhaust set up. It’s not obnoxiously loud but I guess that all depends on the muffler/exhaust you decide to go with. Glad this helped! Most videos I found on KZbin were of straight piped 6.0 or with flowmaster.

I think on the 16 it has a y pipe from the exhaust manifolds and goes into a single exhaust all the way to the back. However I could be wrong, if you leave the cats and stock manifolds the Carven will really make a difference in sound and in cab noise will be minimal, especially being that your truck is a lot newer.

@@RipitRon I do. And there is one comment from Carven themselves saying it sounds clean. Outside of that there was more questions then there were comments on regard to the exhaust.

@@OronasGarage And what do you think? I personally have spent the last 30+ years building custom cars and exhaust systems and IMO this is a close to Ass Sounding as it gets. Aside of some old school purple horny's or Cherry Bombs its pretty bad. I just dont get this whole it sounds clean, or I want my 16 to sound like this or even worse Perfect sound IMO. I mean damn what has happened to todays generation of car enthusiasts?

@@RipitRon If I enjoyed it, I would have kept that exhaust. I’ve changed my exhaust set up a few times to try and achieve the sound I’m looking for. Not a fan of the popping sound myself. Kudos to you and your experience in the industry, I’m sure there are tons of enthusiasts that share the same compassion, and unfortunately I don’t think we have enough people in the hot rod community to share the knowledge and experience they have.
