My buddy just bought a 2000 echo for $1,600. With 130k automatic transmission ... had some rust on the hood, passengers fender & door ... a search online., I found several in junkyards for parts ... even a white one the same color as his so we didn't have to paint any parts we replaced. hood cost $36. fender $25. door $36. fuel door with hinge $5. Also grabbed some odds & ends like missing emblems extra fuses & bulbs. next he wants a wider set of aluminum wheels, 4x100 bolt pattern is a very common 4 lug bolt pattern. so, his search for a nice used set is plentiful. He loves cars that get good mpg, the echo gets 45 mpg highway 35 city. We drove 250 miles yesterday, to pick up his parts & the ech cruise at 80 miles on the highway with ease & is a comfortable ride. he's very happy with his purchase.

I love my echo . This car IS NOT MADE LIKE CRAP. IT IS AWESOME. . I’ve had more than one mechanic tell me they don’t make cars this well anymore. So take that ! It is so fun and easy to drive. It uses space really well. It is comfortable. I live frugally and this car serves me well. I am thankful for this car, as it is a gift from mom who now resides in Heaven. I can’t watch this because you are too negative. I think it is amazing and so very economical for me who lives on a fixed retirement income. Mine is clean and looks beautiful for 20 years old. .

I give this car a thumbs up, I drive a big truck everyday and it burns a hole in my pocket paying for gas. I would take this car any day of the week.
@ManifestedSonofTheMostHigh23 Жыл бұрын
I generally see 4 or 5 echo cars per week usually the 2000 through the 2002 models.. Also the reason you don't see them for sale often is because they're so dependable that people hold on to them. At this point this car is over 23 years old and still going strong. Honestly all you have to do is do your upkeep on schedule and take care of it is the excellent car and it will last you For years and years to come pegood a mechanic I recently talked to antoiota said he sees these cars when he does service them often over 300000 miles and I have read reviews where people have had them much longer than that period this is a great investment and it has a lot of kick to it With tons of storage space I can't recommend this car enough it's the most dependable car I've ever owned.

Basta ya! Give these economy cars a chance man. You're reviewing an (at the time) 11 year old economy car - a car that was designed to be a cheap, reliable commuter appliance. It's like you are trying to compare this to a "S-class or BWM 7-series." Of course the interior is falling apart - every car that I've seen that is older than 10 years has one or two loose trim pieces - especially economy cars that were designed to be lightweight and cheap. Try to be a little more objective in your reviews and don't piss on a car because it's "plasticky." These old Echos were not "made like crap." They were economy cars and offered bulletproof reliability - many of them exceeding 300,000 miles with minimal repairs.

I have a 2001 5 speed echo/ 2 door. I have rear split seats and neat drawer under passenger seat on top of all the storage. As a previous Tercel owner, owned 2. One was stolen and the other couldn't get it aircared. However, Toyoto make solid cars/ trucks. I wouldn't drive anything else. My Echo had lots of power and cheap on gas. Yeah its a little small but its still a great vehicle.
@TheBean2p9 жыл бұрын
Actually owned 3 tercels, forgot about my 89 hatchback . She was a gem, had to scrap her, only car I ever cried about losing. =(
@JC-wb3ec9 жыл бұрын
TheBean2p I must concur. .. I've got a 2001 5 speed 4 door with 124000 miles and it runs sweet with great gas mileage. It's terrific for local driving. I'm not thrilled with it on the highway as it lacks power above 60 and I would hate to get in an accident in it as it would not provide any protection at all, especially if you got broadsided. The only other complaint I have is that it' so light that it is not at all safe on wet roads. It just slides over the top of the road when you hit the brakes and that's with full tread four season tires. Other than those two aspects it's a great, reliable sub compact.

@I am Talako (Gray Eagle In The Sky) well it was the refreshed model that looked better than the older models , and some interior bits looked better. Its rare to find one with power windows and locks and foglights, as this was an economy car so if you find one with those options a very rare find.

(10 year laters after you made this video) More than you think. You haven't really lived until you've driven an Echo esp stick. Best darn realiable older model cars EVER! Easy to repair and affordable even upgrade modernized if one would like. If the part fits it'll work. Just had a garage build part of the pressure steering hose and it good as new. Worth every penny imo. No glitter glam no distractions. Don't need a camera to back up for crying oat loud! Use your mirrors, turn your head to look like you should according to the driving law manual. Love ❤ the CD 💿 🎶 drive, also there's an mp3 option for your listening pleasures. Radio is simple to use tooo. Cigarette lighter is the phone charger and cash tray instead of yucky ashes. Spacious comfortable, fun to drive. You may even find a better appreciation on the road & driving among the newer models vehicles and its drivers. Remembering it is a privilege to drive not a right. Respect the Echo! I've had my beautiful shiny silver, well cared for inside & out Echo'05 five+ years and still going strong. 18+ years! PS your Spanish ties can go you know where to do you know what with themselves. Stupid translation! ECHO'ES were made to last 💪 Baffling why they were discontinued. OH wait! For Toyota to make more money. right. dah.
