A cute little commuter car! I drive a 12 patriot 5spd that I got new in 2012 and now it's got 180.000 miles and still running strong. I had an old 1980 Toyota Corolla that had more rust than any vehicle I've ever own, but it ran like a champ. Can't beat these little commuter cars with a small suv or a bigger sedan because the bigger a vehicle gets, the mpg gets worse. Thanks for showing us a practical commuter car that automakers should still be producing

Thanks for the upload...I love my Echo. I like to see what other people are doing to theirs. I love that it does Not have power steering! The reason for that centre dash is to save money for the right hand drive models....I like where it is...you get a better sight line out the window. The manual windows rule during the winter because you can gauge if the window is frozen.....I have had power windows go off the track during cold weather. I do find the door locks to be very very cheap. I hate how the door can swing open really easily.....I almost want to put a tight spring on them. I wish there was a manual knob for the hatch door lock....I hate have to use the key so often. I love the head room inside. I wish the seat would go back a bit more.....I might take out the back seat....I would have more storage.

Looks like a good simple reliable car that's the best kind and it's paid for it. For all its technological advances my 2008 Toyota Prius is the same way 170,000 miles and everything original I just changed the brake pads at 165 which was unbelievable and yes the EV battery is the original and runs just fine those things last easy 200 to 250 sometimes 300 before needing changing. And based on that my next car will be a used EV probably a Chevy Bolt just waiting until they start selling below 20 used then it's worth it pays for itself in gas savings and 0 maintenance. The gas engine in yours I think is the same that's the gas engine in mine which is a bulletproof engine I get about 44 MPG on the low end but I most trips I averaged about 52 MPG still I use 0-30 Mobil 1 synthetic I think it's the best oil of almost no start-up wear on your engine and I noticed the mpg by one or two increase since using it

my family bought a 2004 echo back in that year and 15 years and 210,700 miles later it still sticks around. It's survived road trips, and 80 mile commutes for years. Hey Eric. Nice review. I'm a big fan of these cars, so it's cool to see someone giving them the credit they deserve. I bought my first Echo brand new at the end of 1999 for $10,889 and drove it for 3 trouble-free years before totalling it. 2 years ago I got a job delivering pizzas, so I searched high and low and ended up driving 4 hours away to pick up a fair condition 02 Echo for $1450. It's been on the road ever since with very minimal repairs needed. I actually did the power door lock and window conversion among many other things on both of mine. Feel free to reach out to me if you run into anything weird during your upgrades. Keep up the great videos!

Very cool! I am looking forward to doing the "Upgrades" to this old girl as she has given me many many miles of trouble free work. These Echo's are one of the best kept secrets on the market today.
