you can really tell Richter froze for a second when he thought Lemieux was the recipient of the pass; but by the time he realized it wasn't Kariya already shot the puck and dove too late. What instincts Mario Lemieiux had........ amazing player. I always thought he was the best player in hockey not Gretzky.....

Iginla did not get nearly enough credit for this game. He scored twice and was involved in both of Sakic's goals. But he was always humble. What a player.

Yes... he had great calls for pretty much all the canadian teams, called the Cup Final in Canada for 28 years, but he did not had an iconic moment with the national team yet. After calling the heartbreak of the shootout in Nagano, he deserved that moment.

... Thank-you ... Iggy was always there so apologies are unnecessary ... truly a incredible game !!! ... crazy day for me ... was to be a day off - no, had to work in the retail pharmacy ... was a clinical pharmacist (hospital) but always on-call in the community ... but that day all the retail pharmacists were "sick" - so I am #1 - RATS - there goes the game !!! ... got to the pharmacy & found a very old clock radio in the stock room - amazingly it worked - even more amazingly I found the pre-game only in FRENCH !!! ... a true MIRACLE because I am French fluent ... was not very busy because everyone was at home watching the game ... the few customers who came joined me as I translated the play ... again, an incredible scene ... but I did not know who the commentators were ... does anyone know ??? ... of-course the commentary was brilliant ... wonderful memories !!! .... likely the best hockey team ever !!!

Lol Smyth just bawling at the end of the video! Gotta love him! I cant believe the last time the best on best tourney was in 2016! Bettman robbing us of watching McDavid and Crosby together on Team Canada. What a tournament this was hilited by Waynes press conference and of course finally winning the Gold medal. Beating the US on their own ice was a nice added bonus! :)

.... Mario's brilliance - does not need to touch the puck to influence the game (were you watching Wayne) ... would have enjoyed seeing what Mario would have accomplished with Mark, Yari, Glenn, Paul, etc ... he did not have or need a bodyguard - did not YAP then RUN AWAY ... played like a Super Star & won Stanley Cups wearing a huge "bullseye" ... saw him play 5 times - the "moves" in confined space while slashed/hooked/grabbed was something to behold !!!

The 2 players with the most 100 pt seasons are Gretzky and Lemieux, not surprisingly, next in the list is Dionne with 8 and he did that playing his entire career on mediocre teams, the most Iginla ever got was 98, true, Dionne played in a higher scoring era but Thornton scored over 100 three times while playing in the same era as Iginla.
