For my 05 V6, I'd like to suggest to those that are trying it out for the first time to take the pulley off: NO IMPACT DRILL, NO PROBLEM! *BEFORE* TAKING OFF THE BELT, HOLD THE PULLEY STURDY WITH ONE HAND SO IT DOESN'T MOVE GRAB A *SIZE 19 WRENCH* TO LOOSEN THAT PULLEY BOLT SO YOU CAN HAND TURN IT LATER WHEN ITS OFF WHEN REINSTALLING: HAND TIGHTEN BOLT AND PUT THE BELT BACK ON PULLEY WITH BOTH SCREWS IN GRAB THE WRENCH AND HOLD BELT AND PULLEY AGAIN BUT TIGHTEN IT TO SAME TIGHTNESS AS BEFORE YW

Got a 2007 acura tsx, looks like the same exact engine. Replaced the o ring on the suction side hose clamp mount, but that did not fix the leak. Its leaking at the seam on the pump right below the suction hose mount. As soon as I start it starts to leak. Gonna try a rebuild kit first, since its probably the seals are worn and causing the leak. Good video. Thanks.

Nice that it sits up top, makes the job a lot easier. Last week I replaced ac compressor on my son's 2003 Accord and was very difficult due to tight space around lower bolts. A week later and his power steering pump has failed, is making one hell of a clattering sound, I reckon the extra tension from the new serpentine belt probably resulted in it giving up the ghost.

You are awesome. :) I watched this and the serpentine belt video, got the tools and parts, and did it. :) I'd agree with others about how it'd be good if the pully process was in there - the parts I saw online all came without the pulley, so I had to switch that. Easy enough, but if there's an easy way to get it loose without a bench vise, I've be interested in learning it. Not that I'll probably have to change the power steering pump again any time soon, but still. :) Thank you! Giving you a like and subscribe for next time I have to fix something. :)

@NutzAboutBolts

I don't think the lower hose has any o-ring because they use the clamp method. I could be wrong, but you should check. The inline 4 cylinder doesn't have any o-ring issues, only the V6 that I've read.

@NutzAboutBolts

Yes this was for demonstration. Usually oem pump comes sealed with fluids already inside the pump. If the pump isn’t primed, you will need to prime the pump so it doesn’t run dry.

Should I flush the system before, or after installing the new pump? My mothers car is the 2004 honda accord 2.4L as well, and some mechanic put a new power steering pump in, and she said it felt great, but then she said after a few weeks the steering was next to impossible, and that the fluid wasn't in the reservoir. Could it be that he didn't flush out all the oldness out first before installing the new one, or do you think it's a rack and pinion steering rack? the car has 195k miles but it drives soo smoothly.

I have Accord 2006 4 cylinder. It seems like there is fluid dried up around the power steering pump. It seems like it most likely is/was leaking from the high pressure o ring. Fluid level seems to be right on the "low" line. Do I need to pinch the high pressure hose? Do I need to remove the belt? Thanks
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 9 жыл бұрын
I would clean up that area, then refill it with ps fluid, and check to see if that area is actively leaking or seeping through. If it is. I would check where its coming from. I've read that the V6 engine has a bad high pressure o-ring that you need to replace. I haven't heard of the 4 cylinder engine having that issue. The only issue I had on my vehicle was a crack underneath the ps reservoir, which was leaking all over the the side onto the body.

NutzAboutBolts can you tell me please, I recently replaced my power steering pump which I purchased from eBay for my Honda Accord 2008 VTI - my mechanic also flushed the oil with genuine Honda oil... Now when I drive the steering randomly goes very stiff and hard to turn especially on high rev say when driving up the hill. The O rings are new also. And as usual the seller is blaming the mechanic wrong installation and the mechanic says it's a faulty pump. From what I see the installation looks perfect and no leaks at all. What are your thoughts?
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 6 жыл бұрын
Is the ps pump working properly? Have you tried doing our flush method to see if the pumps pushing fluids out? If the pump isn’t running properly, it can cause the steering to go stiff since there’s no fluids going through the rack and pinion, as if the accessory belt isn’t running.

I see you replied to a comment about finding a leak and that's what I'm dealing with. It doesn't seem a lot but enough that I fill a little once every two weeks. If I want to check the resavore do I drain it and remove the canister?
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 9 жыл бұрын
David Humphrey no, its hard to tell if its coming from the reservoir. What I did when my reservoir broke from the bottom was that I cleaned the area up with brake clean and let it dry, then the next day I monitor it and see if its still leaking. Once I saw the leak, I check where it was coming from. I noticed that the reservoir was wet from the bottom, it wasn't obvious dripping, so I replaced it and it stopped leaking ever since.If there's a place that was leaking, you will notice it once its dry and clean. Just go with that.

My pump leaks steering wheel fluid rapidly on the area right on top of the 10mm head bolt (the one on top of the low pressure hose) the leak is in the middle of the line that kinda looks like it separates the pump into 2 halfs??? Replace whole pump?
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 8 жыл бұрын
+arlind mehmeti If your engine is a V6, its common that the o-ring there leaks fluid. I would replace the o-ring and see if it still leaks, next would be the hose, since the pump is expensive.

I had to replace the water pump, and we had to take out the power steering pump and hose similar to what you did. When I put it back on, i hear a small grumble. Im sure its air in the system. How do I bleed it out? I dont see a part 2

@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 8 жыл бұрын
+Nestor vides no, you don't need to, but you do need to flush the system from the p/s pump since there could be air in there.

hello there, requesting some help, i recently worked on an 2005 Acura TSX 2.4 engine, the engine is exactly the same one as shown in this video. I replaced the power steering pump because it was making too much noise, after doing the job the new pump still makes as much noise as the old one. i replaced the pump, rings checked for leaks and did not find any leaks. After turning the car on, i turn the steering wheel 50 times to both sides, trying to bleed the air out, but nothing much change. The reservoir over flooded and there was a lot of foam and bubbles. any suggestions?? please

Probably too late but you need to do a complete flushing of the system to get rid of the bubbles. Might need another person sitting at the wheel and turning it with engine running and you adding the fluid to flush out the old one. Lots of KZbin video showing you how to flush the ps system.

to remove the pulley is the bolt left threaded or regular lefty loosey?
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 8 жыл бұрын
+the doge its regular lefty loosey but you'll need a pulley holder to hold the pulley from moving or else the nut will just spin with the pulley.

Great Video. I have a 2007 Honda Accord V6. There is a hissing sound coming from this area of the engine, it goes with the rpm of the engine. Could this be the P/S pump?
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 8 жыл бұрын
+jpman19 any check engine light? any vacuum leaks? is the p/s fluid foamy? also I think the V6 engine p/s pump high pressure hose has o-ring gasket problems. I would check and see if there's any leaks as well.

no lights, It sounds like a air is leaking from somewhere, cant really tell where. There is some fluid build up around the pump itself. i also have a rattling sound, maybe a pulley?

whats the best way to take off the pump pulley from the pump
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 7 жыл бұрын
you can either use a pulley holder tool or stick a screw driver in the open slot of the pulley and wedge it somewhere on the vehicle to remove the bolt. Some people remove the pump and use a vice and a torque wrench while holding the pulley still.

Hi I have an 04 Honda Accord making a weird noise when I turn the steering wheel to the sides only, already check where the noise is coming from and it's the power steering pump making it do you think PS pump is bad already or is it something else that's gone bad thank you in advance and you got some good @$$ videos man
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 8 жыл бұрын
+Carlos Rios I would check if there's any leaks, any air bubbles or dirty fluids. You can try doing a power steering flush and see if the noise goes away or not. Check the belts if its a whinny noise. A bad belt can cause noise as well, I would also check if the p/s pump looks worn or leaking out from there. Most likely it's either the belt or the p/s pump itself. Lack of p/s fluid can also cause noise if steering left or right.
