2003-2007 Honda Accord Engine air filter replacement

2006 Honda Accord. This engine air filter replacement is pretty tight space, so make sure to push the air box back far enough to give you clearance to pull the box up and out of the way to get access to the air filter.

It's easier to loosen the screw on the ring clamp holding the hose to the housing lid, pushing the hose back 'accordian style', then sliding the housing lid forward. Less brute force, less potential damage to outer compartment trim, and no tearing the hose at the neck. It's just five tiny screws instead of just 4.

@@staceym9163 I don't have a lot of experience and I had a heck of a time trying to get this cover off to replace the filter. Its fit in tightly, so you have to muscle the cover off unless you remove the hose. Also the 4th screw to the back is very hard to get to. My car is an 05 Accord.

This video should be titled "How to break the hose that goes into the Honda Accord air filter" - dude, those hoses get brittle with age, you want to undo all the screws around the ancillaries until it comes off the way Honda assembled the car.

Hey man, just wanna say thanks for posting all the vids. Super helpful! I just replaced my air filter and found out my hose/boot was cracked. Any recommendations as to where I should get one and/or which kind to get? There are some on eBay but not sure if I should trust it and just get it from the honda dealer?

if you can find it in the junkyard, that's good too, if its not too expensive, then oem is all the way. If its too expensive, ebay should be fine.

@NutzAboutBolts I have an 2005 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder, Everything seems much tighter and harder to replace the engine air filter. I unscrewed the 4 screws it was difficult I had to get long magnetic screw driver and the screw on the far right was at award angle. Secondly. It seems like I have unscrew the sensor clips and unscrew the intake and loosen clamps. Was there an change between 2005 and 2006 models? Also I have an LX 4 cylinder , do certain models are purposely more difficult? It was way harder than unscrewing for screws and replacing. Opinions and thoughts?

So turning dirty air filter over so it will suck all that dirt into the engine is a good thing? (Anyway thanks for the reminder of how to get that top cover open, this will be the second time I've replaced mine (with a brand new filter!) with the help of your video.)

The air flow is coming from the bottom going up into the air box, so the filter is in the correct position.

Well hell, this time I just could not get it out past the side of the hood; either too cool/cold out or that tube has hardened up since the last time, and apparently it turns out I could have broken something (and maybe did) if I persisted. Ended up removing the other end of the hose and a couple things attached to it to be able to get that top off. Oh and now I see that the dirty side of the filter is the down side, so apologies for that comment. Was pretty dirty down there.

Yes, anyone can do this, just need a Philip screw driver to unscrew the 4 bolts
