Did mine today. Pro Tip: You only have the remove the clamp/hose from the radiator. Don't struggle removing the the clamp/hose from the thermostat, just take the bolts out and pull the unit out with hose attached. A lot easier to work on clamp when it's out.

And the hose and housing is marked in order to install the hose to the housing on the bench. Or it should be, if not you can mark them according to the old one. And the fender liner comes out for access.

Removing the Tire made it so easy to get to and was very easy to unbolt .The Two Bolts actually were not very Tight at all. The O- Ring may have shrunk so much the tension on the Thermostat housing was greatly reduced. Thanks again for saving me a trip to the overpriced repair shop!

Don't bother with pulling the hose off the thermostat. Just loosen the bolts and pull the hose and housing out the wheel well. It makes it easier to reinstall the hose so it lines up with the mark on the housing I don't remove the hose from the rad either. I loosen the clamp and then work a hose loosener in between it and the fitting which allows a small controllable stream of water to drain the system

I removed the hose from the radiator on my end cuz I was draining the coolant at the same time. I figured while I was changing the thermostat it would be a good time to flush the system and change the coolant out with new coolant.

Hey man first of all thanks for the video it helped me out a lot! I had this same exact issue and I changed out the thermostat my temperature gauge is working now but it’s still showing the check engine light and my ac still isn’t working do I need to go in and clear the code? Or should it go off on its own? Thanks!

Hey. I bouth Thermostat SKP manufactured is good? Better buy original? SKP "made in China" original too?
@oscars-autorepair32363 жыл бұрын
I would recommend stick to the oem part. I changed aftermarket parts like candy, they are good for a few months but they start to fail. Save urself the headache and get the acdelco part.

You can actually do it easier by removing alternator ,serp. belt and fan shroud...you can gain access to both bolts without tire and shroud removal
@larsonny77 Жыл бұрын
Lmao you ever try to remove that shroud? Biggest pain in the ass putting it back in.
