AC off no temp Chevy Colorado thermostat replacement.

Sometimes we have to work on the vehicles that move these dirt bikes around, today I'm working on a 2009 Chevy Colorado that has the AC off lit up on the dashboard as well as temperature dropping to nothing on the gauge. I'll be installing a thermostat through the wheel well it's a pretty easy job check it out.

For anyone like me who needed the torque specs. It is 89 in/lbs for the thermostat, and 100 ft/lbs for the wheel lugs.

The problem is not the temp sensor at all. Follow the wires going to it. You'll find another connection in front of the valve cover on left or passenger side. Take plug apart clean connection and add electrical grease as well as greasing the negative terminal. I can go months now without the temp sensor failing and causing ac to go out. I also put new terminals on as well.

that's just for your tire pressure sensors lol someone has swaps the rims or the battery's are just dead in the rims

The same thing happens to my Chevy Colorado, the AC is off and the indicator needle only reaches 3/8, a little higher than 1/4. my question is Is the thermostat the same for all generation 1 engines? 2.8, 2.9, 3.5 and 3.7 Greetings from Durango Mexico, excellent video!

no they moved it in 08-09 on the 5 banger models. it is on the back left side of the head with a pig tail connecter. other models have it in the right side front of the head

From what I've seen is the thermostat is the same, the location of the temperature sensor is different

Tonight, my 2005 chevy colorado had an engine hot/ac off illuminate. My temp gauge on my dash board went to red zone.. pull off road.. pop the hood.. there was a fluid coming out of my air-conditioning low pressure line .. Can a bad ac compressor cause this?

I am almost certain that it isn't a blown head gasket as I didn't have any smoke coming out if my exhaust pipe... I was aware my air conditioner compressor had a small leak on the compressor

No a bad AC compressor won't cause the truck to overheat. I would top off your coolant and keep an eye out for coolant leaks. You may have not had a blown head gasket before but over heating it will cause one.

My temp gauge drops to zero every other drive. And the fan will stay on sometimes for awhile. The P0128 code showed up awhile ago but disappeared the next day. Should I buy a new sensor? Or just have that and the thermostat switched out?

I would switch out both, last thing you want is to overheat and warp a head.

Im having this problem. Can i drive my truck without it over heating? I drove it a hundered miles plus without it over heating. Auxillary fans on all the time. I just changed the thermostat a year ago, so im wondering if its the temperature sending unit

What if you develop a very small leak after replacing the thermostat. I didnt have one before replacing it

You'll just have to recheck everything. (Assuming you're talking about a coolant leak) an AC leak would have nothing to do with the thermostat replacement.

@@MrBoomify Check the hose clamps first and try to find where it's dripping from first. Might just need to tighten a clamp.

It should go down on it's own, unless it's not fully purged or you have a faulty temperature sensor and/or gauge. If you have a scanner plug it in and read the coolant temperature and you'll be reading it directly from the sensor instead of the dash.

Not sure. Definitely possible but I haven't had a 2018 with the same issue, I mainly work on motorcycles.
