I think we will. Many people have reconsidered their priorities and got their bearings rearranged. Before that we were excited that the decade will be incredible, easy, no grind needed, that it's going to be simple to be rich and be able to buy a BMW X6 with cash 3 years from college. Alas, that's not happening. Folks are starting to find actual hobbies and smaller pasttimes again that they can do at home. Visiting their parents' houses and finding stuff in the attic or the garage and fiddling with it because there's no social pressure to spend time outside doing 'fun' stuff or traveling to Barcelona. From my point of view, 2020 has shown the world that the world is not that difficult and that simple pleasures in life have more meaning. Staying safe, with your loved ones, and doing personal projects. Not losing time 'hustling' for something that has no meaning. A sort of a country life, even in a city. Yeah

@@Landau93Droid I dunno, for a while here in the UK you could get SMG's cheap(like decently sub 10k) cause the gearbox was knackered or at a minimum obviously on the cusp of requiring clutch replacement. but you could also get an r32 gtr for half the price and comfortably outrun the e46 m3 but gone are those days :(

VW scene here is a strange mixture of the Campers and Beetles, whose owners tend to be older, and a smaller amount of chavvy golfs like the PA Dubbers. I've been to a few VW events despite never owning one (they often appear in walking distance from my house) and that's the impression I get. It seems the chavs moved from Novas, to Saxos, to Golfs, to the e36/e46 3 Series.

I may as well also take this opportunity to explain something for the casual observer, in case somebody else who replies doesn’t know: a “period-correct accessory” is exactly what it says on the tin: an automotive accoutrement that is correct to the period that the vehicle was manufactured and/or a period it was operated in. You often see them on old cars at shows to give them a human element, to make it seem almost like the vehicle was driven to the show from that period in time. I was first exposed to the concept like I was to a lot of automotive stuff: through the air-cooled Volkswagen scene. Those guys LOVE period-correct accessories, probably because those cars had so many accessories available due to their popularity and be fact that they didn’t come from the factory with many creature comforts. Air-conditioners that are hung on the window, heater boxes tucked under the dash (my 1970 Beetle came with one, but I didn’t use it much because it gave off a weird smell), fender spats, tool kits designed to fit like a hub cap on the spare tire, mileage badges, and (of course) those famous porcelain flower vases that clip onto the dashboard. Of course, it doesn’t necessarily have to be from when the car was new: hot rod accessories from the scene’s heydey in the sixties would definitely count for a 1930s car turned into a hot rod later on. An accessory only has to be correct to the period you’re going for. I don’t quite have the imagination to see a world thirty years from now where owners of BMWs from the early 2000s are tracking down satellite radio antennas, FasTrak transponders, or five-disc CD changers, but that garage door opener will definitely qualify if it happens.

Yeah, there are people in the middle east like that, but in general, BMWs are seen according to their model year 2016--Present: Luxurious 08--15:Regular Car 00--07:Cheap car with whiny belts and failing radiator pre 2000: Junkers/ Project Cars, Even the cleanest examples barley break 2000$ Mercs are generally the same, but there is a big collectors community for 80s-90s models . I had a 2005 M3 SMG with competition package. Same color combo as this one. Loved the handling, smoothness of the engine (and how it delivered power) and the styling. The trans was clunky at low speeds but got better if you revved it out. It's the only car I regret selling.

@@FlyingNDriving The car has a clutch! The SMG box is identical to that of the 6MT stick model as the American's call it. The SMG box uses servos to push in the slave cylinder. you can convert the SMG box to a stick shift its not all that difficult.

It's a sequential manual gearbox, hence SMG. It's essentially a standard manual transmission with extras to automate the control of it, rather than an automatic gearbox which is built quite differently.

Ah yes, the very same car that I pulled up to in gridlock suburban traffic one day while he was aggressively "attacking" a late 90s civic hatch in front of him for going too slow... In gridlock traffic. Jerking his car onto the shoulder, bouncing off redline and dropping the clutch, only to slam on the brakes 15ft later when traffic stopped rolling. Trying his hardest to "fake rearend" that cherry red hatch. Being annoyed/triggered and feeling sympathy for my poor hatch brother, i 'somehow' ending up in front of BMW, between him and the civic to take the load off that guy and block the shoulder to end Mr BMW's attempt at passing us on the shoulder in traffic between red lights. 4 or so streets later the hatch turned off of the road to safety, the BMW distracted and transfixed on me now ignored his chance to finally hit the civic. As soon as we finally reached the highway on ramp it became me running for 20min at 120mph in circles around the belt highway around our town, as Mr bmw pointed a nickel plated handgun out the window at me and occasionally made contact with my quarter panel while trying to run me into the center divider of the highway. Clearly he wasn't actually late for something, he had almost half an hour to chase me. And clearly he wasn't good at running that mental ROI report, his chrome handgun almost blowing out of his hand several times as he stuck it out the window into the airstream, scratching and denting his waxed BMW by making contact with my $1000 hyundai I got from my dead grandma. Aside from my life, I had nothing to lose. I certainly wasn't concerned about the scuff marks on that interference fit korean chariot. That was the first of 4 times I've had a gun pulled on me for minor traffic 'disagreements'. Oh and a machete once for waiting too long for traffic to pass before getting on a highway with no merge lane, and a steak knife for stopping at a yellow light. Missouri really is a cesspool.
