Good cars. My grandpa drove a 2004 Taurus for several years. It was his last car before he couldn't drive anymore. I drove it a few times & it was a pretty pleasant car overall. It was tan with a tan leather interior.

I have an 03 Taurus ses I'm not a big front wheel drive fan but the car was left to me by my grandparents it's been a great car that I've grown to like as I've drove it has 163 k and holding up well I'd give the taurus five stars would last a long time with good maintenance .

Yes! These are great cars.. and shockingly one of the best front wheel drive car is I’ve ever driven in snow, I don’t know how Ford did it, but I have passed SUVs no problem that were stuck in snow

@@winoscar The Vulcan engine must be engineered with quality as well it still runs great and has no leaks or oil consumption when a lot of cars would have valve guide seal leaks with age but Ford updated their valve seals after 2000 if I'm correct to the Viton type and they alleviated the issues and would probably last indefinitely with regular oil changes .

I've had two of these models with a combined 360k hard miles with never one issue. Most people don't change transmission fluid like they should which is why these can fail. Change the fluid every 45k miles and you're golden. Rust is the only thing that got to them

My 2003 Ford Tauru has some problems. It smells like gas. I need to change the transmission oil and filter. I could feel the drop in performance and gas millage is horrible. I just changed the oil and spark plugs. Sometimes it won't start after I park it, I have to wait an hour for it to start. My electrical systems needs some work. I'm broke but depending on this car to get to work. Yeah I'm screwed.

Chris Lambert It was part of Ford's new marketing scheme to make all of their vehicles start with the letter "F", after Ford. Notice Focus, Fusion, F-150, Freestar, Freestyle, Five Hundred. The Five Hundred was also a full-size sedan as opposed to the 4th generation Taurus, which was a mid-size sedan. They used the same Duratec 3.0L V6 in your Taurus because it was proven and powerful. Although, the Five Hundred weighed in considerably more than the Taurus did, and its 203 horsepower wasn't as potent as it was in the Taurus. Couple that with the drop in sales since the previous Taurus, and Ford realized that their customers wanted the familiar and reliable Taurus nameplate. This is why the Taurus, based on the Five Hundred D3 platform, was revitalized in 2008 with a larger 3.5L Duratec V6 producing 263 horsepower. This reached the end of Ford's marketing scheme to name all of its vehicles with a word starting with F. Note the Freestyle became the Taurus X, and the Freestar was dropped altogether. As a side note, Mercury did the same thing with its model names in the 2005-2007 model year range. Examples: Montego (replaced Sable), Milan, Mountaineer, Mariner, and Monterey. Always get this car with the Duratec twin-cam. The Vulcan can go suck a duck. Otherwise, this is a great first car. And the 5-door wagon version is actually pretty neat, too.

I agree, I have an '03 SES Sport w/ the 24V and it kicks ass but actually dude the Vulcan isn't all that bad. My grandma has an '05 w/ the Vulcan and it was pretty peppy lol

mel276109 The Vulcan is good if you want an engine that lasts forever and is cheap to maintain. The Duratec is good if you want to do all of that, AND go a little faster.

I took my 2003 ford Taurus to get an oil change, while it was being serviced the associate hit the torque wrench into the starter causing a fire wires were melted, it wont start they are offering me $500 to fix my vehicle is that fair or should I seek legal advice?

Sorry, but these cars are crap. Nothing but money pits. I own a 2002 taurus se and put a lot of money in it. More than I should have. Granted I bought it from someone who didn't take care of it, and was not honest about its condition. With all I have done with mine it still shows an engine light! It is a commute car if anything, and if the used car market wasn't insanely expensive, I would something else. But as the old saying goes, you get what you paid for. A cheaply built sedan by Ford.
