Changing the valve covers due to leaking on a 2003 Nissan Altima with the 3.5L engine. While I am there I also change the spark plugs.

I was sure y'all said you were going to change the spark plugs. ??? Excellend video, I did this exact service today in my driveway. Only one plug seal was leaking. Used Amazon covers for $62.

Lol he doesn’t show himself removing the 3 mega fucking annoying bolts that hold down the BACK of the intake. But if you can’t get your intake off after removing the 4-5 simple bolts that you can see up front, there are 3 that you CANT see in the rear. You have to feel for them. I almost smashed my phone

What are the torque specs for the valve cover bolts and sequence?

from the center and zigzag going in a circular pattern. The first go around tighten to 9-26inlb then the second go to 62-80inlb.

I always start from the inside and work in a circular fashion going outside. Then I will go in an order from the outside inside to make sure I didn't miss any. I hope that made sense.

there's a specific loosening and tightening sequence for this Altima not from the inside out but great video im changing my oil for the first time today @@737mechanic

@@loganlarson7577 Yes there is almost always a specific tightening sequence, but I always use the inside to out method and have never had an issue. Things like head bolts and critical stuff I will use the recommended procedure.

The old adage is true, you get what you pay for. Those valve covers are cheaply made Chinese junk, and likely to fail. But for this high mileage car, maybe ok.

I have a rod knocking noise while my Altima idles and every time I do a oil change the noise goes away but as time passes and when I use it the noise will start to come back what do you think that’ll be ?
