Thanks!!!!! I followed this video as I changed the one on my 2008 Rogue. I'm not a mechanic but could not see paying $895 to do this. It took me About 6 hours in 2 separate days as I waited for the parts from Amazon. I am proud to say that I am a KZbin University Graduate now! Made it happen for $150 . Thanks Again!

Good job, bro......your job was proving those fascist bastards wrong!!!! not the valve cover r+r....showing up those ridiculous clowns, glad your smart, i almost fell for that bullshit.....yeah, I am mad!!...the system is rigged against you and me, I spent about $45 dollars for the job......$2 dollars on a can of energy drinks because it was mentally tiring......don't know why you spent $150, but, hey thats a lot better than $895...good luck, and keep wrenching!!!

Amazing video with great detail. Thanks so much. Just did the whole job in about 6 hours, $150 in parts I installed 4 new coils and spark plugs. Saved about $2500 off the stealerships quote. Any moderate to advanced DIYer with a good set of tools and a torque wrench can do this.

So I just did the repair and followed the video step by step. Worked very well. Only tips I have for other people wanting to do the same: 1. Have the video next to you and just follow it along. It's a really good tutorial. 2. He doesn't show taking the bolts off the bracket for one of the engine mounts. Its impossible to get the first big metal piece out without loosening the 2nd one. 3. For me, taking the clips off on the backside of the engine was tough. I had two flat head screw drivers, maybe having that tool he has would be a good thing for you to have too. 4. I also had the oil in the left most 2 spark plug wells. I sucked it out and let the rest drain through the spark plug also. It was nice I had a spark plug socket and syringe around. 5. One of the 14 mm bolts is tricky to get in and out on the back of the engine. Not a huge deal, but it seems there is an easy way to do it if you know it's coming. 6. Headlamp made it super easy. Thanks for the tutorial and happy wrenching

Thanks for the video. I am finally doing the entire valvecover/gasket change on a 2011 also. As of now, it is 11:29pm, and I got the valve cover torqued down with RTV. Your video is very simple, and easy to understand. I would have been finished a few hours ago if I already had a 16mm socket.😅

It went almost identical to this.. about 95% of it is exactly the same. I removed all the bolts on the motor mount for easier removal. I did not have to remove the air intake or mess with the throttle body. It took me about a good 4 hrs for this job.. but i took my time. Please and i mean please be careful when removing the ignition coil.. if its stuck and comes apart when pulling .theres a small like fuse inside them and itll fly off.. it happened to me.. and it went behind the motor. Had to get a magnet stick. Other than that thanks alot for the video..

Time for some stupid questions.....how long do you have to let that black sealer set-up?? This is where I always run into problems, rest of job looks like a cinch.....you said the sun was hot and all, but this is where I run into problems....been a mechanic for 40 years, but that rtv is always a ball-buster.....this 2012 rogue ive been driving with 150,000 miles is a strong car, but has a few stupid issues, thats why I like asking stupid questions!!!.....thanks for the tip-off about the oil in the tube bottoms, I will try the syringe, I would have never thought about that!!!...great video!!
@johniorio7951 Жыл бұрын
I would like know about these new rtv sealers....your using the black the other video guy was using some blue stuff, man, I will damned if I have do do this job again, that swhere things go south, that silicone sealer has had problems....all the rest is fine.
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
All of the rtv works , but the ultra black is about the best. A few hours is sufficient but if you can wait I prefer 24 hours to cure. Great question and thank you for the feedback.
@johniorio7951 Жыл бұрын
@@s33therfan Sounds good......still wondering about the r.t.v. application...I see that you only put the ultra- black in the corners. Why not coat the whole gasket area?? i see your point about the arches on the sides, but I am confused about why to only put the sealer on the corners. Thanks , I watched this several more times, very informative.

One of the best videos - very detailed and good quality. Very well done, thank you. One question - is it OK to jack at the oil pan or should a larger piece of wood be used touching part of the frame as well?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
Just a block under the oil pan if ok , as long as the car itself is safely supported . Thank you for the terrific feedback.
@craigkennedy5328 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the detailed video. I have a 2009 X Trail and noticed #2 spark plug full of oil. Must be a common fault with this engine. Car ran fine but it will need fixing. Will follow your procedure. Is the oil pan the only place to keep the engine up when removing the mount? I’ve used RTV as you’ve done in corners on other vehicles. I’ve also used Aviation Gasket Sealer #3 to hold rubber gaskets to the cover when installing other covers which helps seal. Was thinking the sealer could help the spark plug sealing as well. Done a temporary fix with RTV but will need to replace the cover as you’ve shown. Thanks.

You didn´t toke the screw off from the rubber side of the front engine torque strut mount for avoid braking the worn rubber?
@DavidStrchld Жыл бұрын
Hoping someone can answer this, besides the PCV, there is a second one which appears un-valve'd and looks like it goes directly into the intake. You can see this at 29:36 directly to the right of the PCV valve. What is that and doesn't that negate the PCV valve?

Hey man what are the bolt sizes? As one broke off my murano and i am looking to drill it through and rethread it. Thanks
@s33therfan7 ай бұрын
I do not know off hand but the easiest way is to take a good bolt to tractor supply. They have a thread checker and from there you can grab the right metric tap size. They also have metric bolts. Commonly they seem to use a M6 or M8 on the valve cover bolts. Hope this helps.

is there anything else you recommend replacing / cleaning while doing this job?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
I would just recommend giving the engine a really good cleaning prior to starting the job just to limit any potential debris getting into the cylinder head. In addition it just makes things much nicer working with a cleaner engine bay etc. Thank you very much for the feedback.

Is this also a good fix for a blown head gasket?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this won't help a bad headgasket. That would require a head rebuild , resurface and new headgasket. Best of luck on your project.
