Sadly, at least in America, this was one of the best cars money could buy and nobody cared about it
@HandsomeMoose7 жыл бұрын
Same in the rest of the world. It doesn't matter that it was a good car. When spending this kind of money most people want a luxary brand and not a VW. This was also reflected in the second hand value.

The best luxury car in that time... Audi A8, BMW 7 series and Mercedes S class are not even close to PHAETON !

This is what happens when a former luxury car gets in the hands of People who neither have the Money nor the will to take care of it properly. Let´s be honest: This car is wasted. Front bumper destroyed (who knows what else behind it, as it doesn´t fit right to the Fender and Hood), The trunk hood doesn´t fit properly either, probably another accident. The engine and underbody looks like the car was used on a field as a tractor. Interior and trunk totaly dirty, obviously the leather got it´s last Treatment 10 years ago. CEL, Air Suspension and Airbag Lights on, so obviously all of it broken too. A broken air suspension ALONE makes this car a total loss. The engine sounds unhealty, especially when startet. It`s sad too see this... And why the f*** would anyone leave open the windows in the rain?

I owned a 2004 V8 Phaeton, with every luxury package available. I bought it used in 2011, and sold it in 2017. I loved it. But it is horribly outdated. The navigation system came on CDs (VW stopped selling updated maps for it before I bought mine.) It has no blind spot detection, no automatic braking, no radar cruise control, no camera in the back, or any camera. Mine did have the optional front and rear parking sensors (they beeped and lit up to show you how close you were.) The phone was analog, not digital (as shown on this video.) Sure, the ride is awesome (it has the Bentley air-suspension). The seats (outboard) were heated, cooled, and lightly massaged. The air-conditioning/heating system was unique (and remains unique.) There were other amazing features that made the ride so pleasant to drive--especially on long drives.

check engine light it's already on with only about 77,000 miles on it, for a 13 year old car, that's barely been used. WV it's not very reliable, at least here in the US. too many electric issues. I'll stick with Japanese!

thats the 5th gen golf 100,000 miles no issues
@mr.c4937 жыл бұрын
kurt roepke I never owned one but I've know of people that have and had lots of issues. Plus I remember readying an article years ago from car and driver and WV came in last place in long term reliability, also my sister in law has a 2014 Jetta and I've driven the car and I was not impress, the transmission shifts horrible there's too much lag and it was not really something that was impressive. Honestly I rather drive my sisters 2013 Elantra. I just would never buy a WV. That's just my opinion. On the other hand I like their designs!!!
@azteck987 жыл бұрын
they are not the greatest but from consumer reports they are about middle ground better the the domestic brands .my fiesta has had a few things go wrong nothing major but more then i would want.fiat and Chrysler came out as worst in reliability.
