Thanks for the video man. Now I have a hope of fixing my top. I managed to open the top using your method and can access the motors.

Now we just need to figure out the timing of the cable with the closing mechanism. Now I'm back to the 2 inch gap. I suspect i've ruined one of the switches from jamming screw drivers through that hole over the back glove boxes.

Having an issue with my Z right now with the roof. Took my Z to a Nissan dealer, they charged me $180 and returned my Z to me broken like I brought it to them and said they can’t fix it. That’s bull shit! Now I’m being told by someone else that it’s the 2 motors that control the roof. One OEM motor is $1600 and I need 2. Hoping I can get the motors rebuilt.

@@350zmurray Hi, the hard tonneau cover opens but then the rest of the roof won’t open. It has worked sporadically, once it stopped with the back glass folded and would not open or close any. We believe it’s the 2 top motors. We have pulled the motors out and now I will try to get them rebuilt, OEM motors are $1600 each.

@@vitkobylka6432 so the 5th bow motor (where the back glass is) is the motor controls the back glass raising/lowering and the top raising/lowering. The Left and right motors in the trunk control the cover going up and down. Make sure the arms and/or the frame of those motors aren't bent because they triggers sensors to let the 5th bow motor to close. 7:21 is where you can see the receiving latch (driver side) just behind the driver.

The standard way to open is in the trunk, remove panels from the back, expose the hatch unlock cables, and the two motors on the side of the trunk. Pull on the cable that unlocked the hatch, then torque wrench on both motors , turning counter-clockwise , to open the hatch. White Grease all the top roof joints, motors, and cables at friction to make opening easier.

There is -0- access to the top from the trunk. The issue is the prong from the top wont release. The two cables you are talking about are to release the cover AFTER the prong has been released.

@@350zmurray True! The prong mount can be unscrewed from where the 5th bow motor. It is not easy though.

At 7:23ish younwill see the holes where the 10mm (I think) bolts are. There's 4 for the latching and 3 for the motor. You have to disconnect all the cables and connectors. You have to undo all of that then you can wiggle the latch mechanism out. It's a B!!!!! But some vigorous wiggling will get it out.

Not sure if the comment was ever posted on the other video, I found a link on a forum page that told us to reset/retract the wire from the motor 1.5”/2” when reset. Not sure if that makes sense

​@@350zmurray the clicking you here in the back is the button you press to let the top down it releases that hook in the back that black cable in the back pushes forward and release to pull down hook if the tips are broke on the table it will just click Nissan do not sell the cable anymore it has been discontinued

I can't say that, you may still need to replace the 5th bow motor

Good job, Brotha; however, you did not show us where you got those 2 parts from...and how did you access those parts? What's the proper name of the "motor? What tools did you need to access those parts ( hacksaw) and then you said, this part is clearly missing a spring...from where? When is part two, to this video, going to be released?

Those parts are in the roof cover. There's a bunch of videos on that but there were no videos on how to get the back window to go up if its stuck down. So I just provided how to force it up. 5TH Bow Motor is the part with the cable and Lock Assembly these parts can be found in the storage lid. No hacksaw needed haha

@@bazk1965 still working on it everything is synced. 5th bow motor pulls the glass up and down, theres two motors on the side that raise and lower the top (with the glass up follow from the headrest down to where you see the gears) , the motors in the tonneau cover releases and pulls down the striker under the back glass. There's a relay/switch that's triggered by the button in the car that tells the 5th bow to raise and the latch to release. Lastly there are two motors in the trunck (L & R) that life the tonneau cover. There are strikers under the tonneau cover that must seat properly. In all there's 6 motors, 1 button, and 1 switch.

So now it opens I'm back to the little gap when closing this issue of the gap is the deal is laching BEFORE the striker can get there. There's a comment that tells us how to time the cable. I think it needs to be about an inch and a half out in the Open position.

​@@350zmurray the problem is that little black wire cable that runs in the same area the end with the cable secures itself are broken period mine is broke on both ends. I did not pry mine open I took this 3 flat head screws out of the hook that will not let go then I went inside the Box and push that black cable and it fell out the problem is when you press that button inside the car the cable pushes on the locking mechanism and releases the lock. Next problem is Nissan do not sell those cables anymore and they are very hard to find. I think I may have found a cable, I'm waiting on them to ship it now they say they can find it but it hasn't happened as of now

@@davidmunguia521 I found it at a place called turbomotors sound like some Indian people I ordered and paid for it they supposed to send me a email once it ship they say they can get more than just that cable but I'm not sure if they can even get it
