Because its in neutral and not carrying any stress, it's totally harmless. it's a technique known a "free-revving". I read about it in Evo Magazine like eight years ago.

Oil pump need time to make good presure to the engine.. and starting the car and just rewing it, when the motor has not much oil on it.. it's not good idea ... much time doing this in that way can be not good for the engine and the parts inside.
