i know many ppl has this problem so i thought on recording my way of fixing it
so here it is!!
this video was made on a 04 Envoy 4.2L SLT
had this problem for a few years and i thought it was gone but i guess it wasn’t! as long as the truck was running everything was fine even on slow traffic, however on very hit days with AC running and slow traffic gauge wasn’t staying in the middle as it should and i thought it was my clutch again! had it replaced 2 years ago but every summer is the same story!! 4 days ago y drove about 400 to 500 miles without a problem and towing my jet-ski but 2 days ago i went to a friends house and left the truck running with AC on my girl was in there and when i came back i had a yellow warning light Check your Gages
the first thing i did was to look at my Tem but it was about 3/4 which is high but not as high then i noticed my oil gage was jumping up and down from Zero to a bit above the middle so i dove away and everything seem to go back to normal, next day i drove it to test the fan again and ran AC full blast after a while i noticed the Tem going up again so tha confirmed something was up with my Fan so i decided to look in to it and this was my Fix to this recurring Fan clutch problem!! now it works perfectly i can even hear and feel the Fan blowing way stronger!!
so bottom line you need to make sure you have a good Ground and a good pulse from your ECU even if your fan speed sensor isn’t working ECU will detect it and it’ll still send signal for the clutch to engage as it did on my video i think ECU has a backup program to activate it even without getting feedback from speed sensor just as it did for me..
Good luck Guys
