Looking to lift my 2003 4.6L with either the Rancho Struts or 2" spacers. Have you had any upper ball joint issues with your setup over the time you've used it?

Running 285/75r16 on the spacer lift?
@rome01757 жыл бұрын
Hawkeye Skunk Works Yes I was running 285/70r17 but in this vid I'm running Rancho quicklifts only and got rid of my spacers
@HawkeyeSkunkWorks7 жыл бұрын
How much lift did that give you? Any rubbing issues? I'm running 265's with about 4" and move up to 285's, it's gonna be close. What fears are you running?
@rome01757 жыл бұрын
Hawkeye Skunk Works About 1.5" of lift all around. But I already trimmed the fenders so no while street driving. Although I do get some rub full lock while off road and since there's so much more up travel I'm hitting the fender lip on some bumps. All in all no regrets switching from spacers to the quicklifts. You can tell from my previous vids that I used to be higher with the spacers.
@HawkeyeSkunkWorks7 жыл бұрын
I'd really like to see some pics of how you trimmed the fenders. What gears are you running?
@rome01757 жыл бұрын
Hawkeye Skunk Works So far im running stock 3.73 gears. Will be upgrading to 4.10 soon. Along with install of my Eaton truetrac LSD up front.

I just bought an 03 xlt what should I do to it before I go off road
@rome01756 жыл бұрын
Adam R. Well a lift would be great for starters. Along with the right off road tires. Depending on what type of off-roading you’ll be doing some type of traction aid will help tremendously on these rigs. I run a rear locker and that has gotten me through a lot of rough stuff
@Rev7926 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I what's A rear locker
@rome01756 жыл бұрын
Adam R. In my case the rear locker locks left and right wheels so they rotate at the same time providing the most traction you can get. Search lockers for off road for more info.

Is there a set of lifters u can recommend and how would I go about buying lockers ?

sick ride man.. looking to beef mine up a bit.. dont now if i want to lift or not yet, gotta make sure the rear diff is in good enough shape before i do anything too drastic
@rome01756 жыл бұрын
Bryan Robinson Thanks man! Well I’m running a rear locker to help with traction since there’s absolutely no flex with the independent suspension lol. If you are gonna do some off roading your gonna want to lift it for more ground clearance and fit bigger tires.

I just lifted my 02 explorer but it looks like shit with stock wheels I'm not sure what to buy but I like your size tires please reply let me know thanks
@rome01756 жыл бұрын
Alvaro De La Cruz Well with stock wheels and tires they probably look small and sunken in the wheel well. Invest in 1.5in wheel spacers and a bigger tire. I run 285/70r17 tire but you should fit a 265/70r17 tire no problem with wheel spacers. Or you can just buy aftermarket wheels. My wheels are 17x9 0 offset. Hope that helps

Hello Buddy, Hope you are doing great, I have a Ford Explorer 2010 Limited 4X4 (4.6 Liters 3V) and I will like to lift it in order to put some higher tires (265 80 R17) but keeping the same Wheels (17") so I do not have any idea which lift kit I can use in both sides (3" or 2.5"). Could you kindly help me on this matter ? I heard that 3" lift kit will stress the ball joints and some other parts, is this thrue ? Kind regads, Miguel
@rome01755 жыл бұрын
When I ran the lift spacers the front was 2.5” and rear 2” and I had zero problems with ball joints. The truck can run 265/70r17 with no lift but when I ran 285/70r17 tires I trimmed inside the wheel well. The tire size 265/80 you mentioned is not a popular size tire. Hope you can find one.

Did ur truck make it over that pinch point?
@rome01756 жыл бұрын
Adam R. No it didn’t. Definitely need sliders to get over that point. The people that made it over had to their sliders unless they had a big enough lift. The break over point is too steep.
