You can use a floor jack to lift the knuckle up to get the strut in. Tap the sides of the knuckle with a hammer until the strut pops in

@@richierock1300 I'm talking about that 6+ inch pipe that you held up the knuckle to press out the hub/bearing assembly out.

The question is that the bearing is premounted on the hub and you press the hub to get bearing in. Are you not concerned about damaging the new bearing during the press?
@richierock13003 жыл бұрын
Basically it’s all assembled as a unit I do not have to much concern about damaging the bearing because I am pressing it together if I was going to hammer it together then yes it will damage the bearing because of the sudden force of the hammer will put marks inside of the race and possible flat spots on the ball bearings being that I’m pressing it it’s more equal all the way around evenly so it won’t damage it so far so good hasn’t come back yet

@@richierock1300 Thank you. I have the same car and will change the same bearing and hub. The parts will arrive a few days later. Hopefully, it is the same setup as yours. I don't have a stationary press but I have an installer/remover kit. I will try to do it slowly. Also, I didn't see a snap ring installed in your video. Do you miss that?

Make a support for the outer bearing race with an old bearing race split in half. It needs to JUST fit between the back of hub and outer bearing race face. At about 14:20 you can see the space I am referring to. If needed, shape some supports with mild steel place them so they jam against the stud heads, and tape them into place around the area between hub and bearing. Then after pressing, remove the spacers/supports. You can see the idea in this video, he uses a custom tool made for these hub assemblies: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXvIh62ZZ5aMn8U Stay gold.
