The night Jeff Gordon gave a middle finger to Coca-Cola C2 haha. I miss how the leaders could race tight and intense in the closing laps and not wreck. Nowadays there’s at least 5 wrecks in the last 10 laps including overtime. The pre-race show was awesome. And DW’s foreshadowing about Brian France and the future of the sport….wow.

Me and my grandpa went to this race. The rain was insane all weekend, even ruined our rental cars convertible top. Such an amazing weekend

The first and only time ive been to Daytona. My mom won free weekened tickets through enterprise rent a car for two people. My dad didnt want to or couldnt go for whatever reason, I was 12. Won a nextel hat (which I lost years later) down there in a raffle and ended up warming up to another rent a car winner that got a jacket I liked, (and her even though she was my moms age lol). She gave me the jacket she won in the auction in return for a hug. Double win i thought. Jacket was way too big for me lol but I thought it was so cool at the time. I still have that inaugural Nextel season 2004 jacket. Was the coolest thing that happened that summer. Other than that the only thing i really remembered was going through all the race trailers collecting cars and it being stupid hot out and must have been raining at points. Didnt really remember the rain much until watching this race over just now. My mom ended up in the tracks medical center for heat exhaustion and I had no idea where she was. I was with the other rent a car winners the majority of the pre race and so excited just to be there that I wasn't scared or concerned about not knowing where she was or that she was even in trouble, which seems kind of bizarre now. Told me to stay in the rent a car tent and then didnt return for 4 hours or more. The jacket lady watched over and walked around with me most the time when I wasnt off on my own wandering.

I got to sit on the end of the backstretch grandstands here. Some guy with a 24 hat convinced me to be a Jeff Gordon fan before the race started 🏁

NASCAR 06 total team control challenge Jimmie Johnson 48 Lowes Chevrolet Need A Push? In the race he was in the 2004 version of the Lowes Chevrolet as he was able to push Jeff Gordon to the front and make it 1-2 sweep in the Pepsi 400 for Hendrick Motorsports as JG was in the Pepsi play for billion Chevrolet during the race. In the challenge Johnson was in the 2005 version of the Lowes car with his teammate Gordon in the 2005 DuPont Chevrolet as they’re lined up 2nd and 3rd as the goal is to push each other to a 1-2 finish past the 8 car of Dale Earnhardt JR to complete the challenge like they did. Also the event served as the prologue of the video game to make it a fun fact.

DW loves him some jr.....

Darrell Waltrip would kiss Dale jr.s butt on the starting line in front of the crowd of over 100,000 people ! He was always a number 8 butt licker! He always favored him no matter what position number 8 was in

You gotta love the bias they showed toward dale jr. You could really see that they wanted him to win. It was total BS

Well why not? DEI owned the plate tracks back then. I miss those days. It's too bad they made that crew swap and killed that momentum.
@vapinbachelor289 Жыл бұрын
@@evanwilliams6406 that was Jr's downfall.

His father got the same treatment. It was always great seeing HMS beat the DEI cars at a plate race during that time.
