2004 Scion Xb Push Start/Remote start

2004 Scion Xb Push Start/Remote start. I also went about on removing and Ignition Key to bypass the Steering wheel lock for it to work. My 2004 Scion Xb is a manual transmission and the intruction for installing the remote didnt civer that part. But all you need is to connect the starter/cranck on the clutch solenoid. It also talked about one of the wire for "fuel path", but it actually meant tachometer. Now im going to wait for a week not driving the car to see if it drains battery power. i noticed that my dvd player, i can music and watch a movie. It could because of bypassing the steering wheel lock.

I have the same car but I wonder if there is a way I can put the push button start on the dashboard and still have it where I can still start it with the key

you can do it but this item I have no longer exist. I did connect the push button by just tapping in it just to make sure it works. After I verified every is working, thats when I took out the ignition. i did thought of that idea but i didnt want to put a hole on my dash.

So are you saying you connected the starter wire from the push to start to the clutch instead of the starter wire from the solenoid?

I believe that's what I did. It's been years so I forgot. I would suggest that you follow the manual schematic on which starter alarm you bought. You dont want to be accidentally attaching a 12v wire on to the starter solenoid. Your car will get really messed up.

hey, can you explain again how did you remove the key? because I have the same issue with scion iq I tried with batter, it didn't work I really don't know how to do it with battery

Scion xb auto start. If you click the link, you can pretty much have an idea what it is and buy something similar. This will work on any car or boat if you know what you're doing. But this also drains battery and its parasitic rate was at .6 volts when i checked mine so you gave to use your vehicle almost constantly. If you let it sit for a week, the battery will be drained.

how has this held up nearly 3 years later? most negative reviews all seem to say they work in the beginning but then dont work right later

It been working but like other suggest, get a better one. Just remember that anything you install on any car thats not created by the manufacturer creates a parasitic drain on your battery. So if you're not going to use your car for 2 weeks, the battery will run out of power. If you use your car everyday, then you'll have zero problem with this device. One last thing, your battery is weak, even at full voltage the remote start will not work. Thats why you see those reviews saying that "it use to work, now it doesnt". It's their battery, and thats why i bought a bigger battery for you car. My car uses 24h 600 cca battery, i put a 24h 750 cca, just to compensate for the parasitic drain. If you're going in this route, You gotta make sure that the battery will fit securely in your car. Good luck, happy new year!

Did you have any issues with the car just cranking when you pushed the button but not starting? I’m installing the same kit and have that issue.. I’ve installed many alarms before but am having issues with this one.

Make sure you have the right wire set up. That includes clutch wiring. Mine is a manual transmissoon so i connected mine a the clutch. I always have my car parked on neutral so i never had any problem with starting. The only time when i had the same issue as yours in when i let my friend borrow the car and he parked my car on the 1st gear. I was glad that the car didnt go start and just crank and did nothing else. So from then on i dont remote start my car if someone else's use my car.

Recently bought an 06 automatic (wish it was a manual) and would like to add this to it. Do you have a link to the one you bought? Also what is your opinion on this now that you've had it for a couple of years?

If i would buy a new remote starter, i would buy a different one. This one seems to drain the battery if i dont use my car for a week. If money is no issue, id buy the one with a starter that has an app so i can remote start my car with the phone. Theres a saying you what you paid for and this is the case with this one. Its a basic remote starter.

You can replace the battery on the key fob. Its basic key fob and uses a battery you can buy at the ace hardware or any electrical store.

Jackie Wong there are lots of tutorial on how to do this. Just make sure you follow the wiring diagram.
